| Ok given that all the fans have seen everyone play and given that the back on the bench policy is no longer a given dogma. How would you set up the team?
I've gone a bit left field, just to be a bit different.
Lomax, Foster, Shenton, Wheeler, Makinson, Gaskell, Lance, TP, Roby, Sia, La Franki, Flanaghan, Wilkin. Perry, LMS, Clough, Meli.
Lomax has a freer role.
Foster has a better defensive centre to boost his moral.
Wheeler gets a better defensive winger, and space to run unlike at 1st receiver.
Gaskell gets a guiding experienced hand
Lance can guide without having to worry about kicking
Sia can probably do a prop role, where as La frank can't.
La franki is proven here.
Wilkin gets a position where it's much easier to influence the game and get kicks away rather than just being a running 2nd rower.
Meli or Wellens could fill as a back, but can also play a role. Meli in the pack would add an impact running feka style maybe for 10 minutes each side of half time. This would allow Roby to get a 10 minute rest with Flanaghan covering hooker for 20 minutes as meli fills in for him.
Shall I duck and cover now or later.

Still fooked in the halves no matter what team is picked because he had this crazy idea of signing a fullback as a halfback.
My pack
LMS
Roby
Perry
Sia
Wilkin
Laffranchci
Subs- clough, TP, flanaghan, Dixon

1378.jpg Hello again:1378.jpg |
|
| What I'd go with for the next few games (injuries permitting):
1) Wellens
2) Gardner
3) Shenton
4) Wheeler
5) Makinson
6) Gaskell
7) Hohaia
Wellens is rediscovering his form. If he's caught out again for pace/form in the next few weeks, time for the legend to take a step back, but let's see how he goes. Foster needs to rebuild his confidence in the u20's, because he'd be relentlessly targetted by Leeds/Wire/scum. Lance brings experience to the halves - he should be given the remit to organise the attack & call the plays. Gaskell would provide the best balance at half.
8 ) Perry
9 ) Roby
10) LMS
11) Soliola
12) Lafanchi
13) Wilkin
IMO, gotta load the pack with bulk first up. There's 4 players who could prop there. Wilkin's obviously the anomaly, but I don't subscribe to No13 being a 3rd prop. We need Wilkin to be given some more ball-playing responsibility. If Soliola's not fit, then TP to start.
14) Puletua
15) Clough
16) Dixon
17) Lomax
Get Perry to play the battering ram for 10-15 mins, then sub him for TP. Clough on for LMS soon after for the steady-eddie prop position. Dixon to spell with Frank & Sia. Lomax to spell with Roby, as well as cover pretty much all the back positions.
Seems much better balanced to me.

| A bit left field also, but if everyone's fit:
1. Lomax
2. Gardner
3. Shenton
4. Meli
5. Makinson
6. Wheeler
7. Gaskell
8. Perry
9. Roby
10. LMS
11. Soliola
12. LaFrank
13. Wilkin
14. Clough
15. TP
16. Flanagan
17. Hohaia
We need to give Wheeler a run at #6 to see what he can do there (he's wasted at centre), put Lomax at #1 where his skills are best suited and give Gaskell a go at #7 for want of anyone else with a kicking game. Hohaia as impact runner from the bench at #9 (for rather more than 5 minutes a game) and cover at #1 and HB. I wouldn't want to risk having Foster anywhere near my team right now frankly.

| I agree with kieron should he no.1 but does he have the correct badges to be it? Surely rush will have. I hope rush put his trust in the young lads and gets them in rather than letting the likes of perry continue with his holiday here! Young Forster and hale deserving a chance IMO, playing very well at championship level and josh jones in the 20s. Too many senior players taking it all to easy for my liking! Youth now will make us world beaters in 18-24 months!

You must be mad having no Wellens, because against Bradford he was by far your best player and the only one who seemed to give a damn. I do agree with you regards Hohaia.
I hope you do improve as a team because IMO the competition as whole needs a strong St Helens.

Really????
Rush coached most of them.
Cunningham has been an assistant conditioner, I would take it as more of a team effort, rather than one being number one, the other being number 2. Also Cunningham may not want it yet.

I ain't got a clue what I'd pick as no combinations have worked this year at all. I don't think lance or lomax are #7 but who else is there?
I'd have to go with Gaskell at stand off as he's the most natural halfback at the club and the only one with a long kicking game (poor this year).
This would have all been avoided if we'd just signed a #7 on.

I would say Gaskell is a more natural 7 than a 6, would give Wheeler the no 6 shirt, Lomax on the bench coming on in the 2nd half against a tiring defence.
