| Reading on Twitter that Manly have asked Jamie to retire in order to free up his salary for them to push on with reshaping the squad.
Now I'm sure he's not the player he once was, but it would be good for nostalgic purposes to sign him on a minimum wage deal for next season

Isn't he retiring anyway?
Not a chance he will come back. We was lucky to get two seasons from him

He's under contract for 2016. Last I heard they wanted him to renegotiate it to free some space, now it seems they want to cut him completely.

And we should do the same. For 2 seasons we had him at his best. Lightning don't strike twice

I'm sure Dominique will be tearing it up in SL next year and my dreams of proper signings will look very silly

| He was bloody brilliant for the time we had him wasn't he.
Deserves to retire on his terms IMO.

| I'm still waiting for Meninga to come back....
Jamie Lyon is my favourite ever player to play for us. The fella was incredible. One of my memories of him was actually during a home defeat to Leeds. We didn't get a sniff all game, we were useless. Leeds I think were 18 or 19 nil up. 10 minutes left and up steps Jamie Lyon who was singlehandedly responsible for the 3 try's in response. They did us by a point in the end but what a finish.

Remember the game well. Got to a point in the game where we just ended up spinning the ball out to him and let him run at them. Nearly came off too
Fantastic player and up there with my favourites at Saints. Didn't look much physically at first glance but then you'd see him with the ball in his hands. Speed, could step off both feet and could go both ways, had great hands to put his winger away and one day we asked him to kick for goal and was brilliant at that too. Was such a threat for us down the right, must have felt like Christmas every day playing outside of him.

| He is still playing well in the NRL, he will get a gig somewhere there I think.
I don't think it's in our plans to recruit a quota player on the verge of retirement

| A great player for you. The risk in bringing him back in is that if he didn't do well in a second stint, it would tarnish your memories of a great servant to the St Helens club.

Jamie Lyon was a great player. My abiding memory of that match was big Ali out pacing Paul Wellens on a 70 meter run to the line on a glue pot of a pitch.

Haha, to be fair, you could have pushed through that crowd to go to the toilets, then gone to burger stall before pushing yourself back through the crowd to your spot by the time them 2 covered 70 metres mate.
