| Rumor in New Zealand that Chase and/or Dobson could be on way to Saints this Season? How can this be possible with no quota spots free? Maybe with Perry injury - could be de-registered?
Apparently Chase is being offered to NRL team (St.George) and could sign in next few days. Maybe that is where the link with Saints comes from?
What says you in St.Helens that are closer to the club.

| Would Chase get a Visa for a move to Saints? Not sure he would, but his performance against Hudds last week highlighted what we are missing. Skills and a bit of mongrel.

| Did not see the game! Do you think he could be a good fit and would we be able to fit into team due to Quota/Salary Cap? I have watched in sheer shock and amazement via SLTV highlights and listened via internet radio RE: Wellens/Wilkin at 6/7 - OMG!

| I wouldn't want Chase in our team. He only does his stuff for 10 minutes either side of halftime. He has a poor attitude and that would just cause us problems. As for Dobson, he's a good organiser and kicker but fans on here were once clamouring for some 'x factor' in their halfbacks. I don't see any in Dobson's style.
If we're going to pick up an antipodean in our halves - and for some reason that always seems to be the answer everyone wants to the question - then I'd aim for Jarrod Sammut. Having him in our team would be fab.

| I see, interesting wasn't Saints in for Brett Finch last year?
He cant even get a start at Melbourne at the moment. Also Trent Hodgkinson cant get a start and stuck in NSW Cup also.
There is a plethora of 6 and 7 in the NRL that cant get a start. Jacob Miller is young good one to watch!
Any thoughts?

| 1. Lomax
6.Chase
7.Dobson
9.Roby
Would be a nice spine for the team but I doubt we could make it happen.

| Writing off Chase as inconsistent & Dobson as not good enough......but likes Sammut. You couldn't make it up. The only thing consistent about Sammut is he never makes a tackle.
Dobson ideal for Saints, kicking game & an organiser. Lomax & a running SO would link great with him. Scrum half doesn't have to be a world beater but we need a kicking game & organiser. Dobson ticks both boxes. FWIW - we cant attract much better in SL anyway with our cap restrictions.
A good realistic option in my opinion

| Chase and Dobson would be perfect, but doubt that would ever come off.
Dobson is the most likely and he's exactly the sort of player we need. I don't know why someone above was saying that we need an 'xfactor' from HB? No we don't when we have lomax at 1. We need an organiser and Dobson is exactly the sort of player we need.

The thing is, even when Chase has an off day he will create a piece of magic that can totally turn the game around. He's practically carrying Castleford at the moment, I think my attitude would suffer in that position too!

Was that really necessary? No.
Sammut is more of a Longy style halfback. I happen to like that style of halfback. Those with originality, risk, flair, creativity, vision and a 'f*** it let's give it a go' type approach. His defence doesn't appear to be a problem to Bradford, who happen to be doing better than us this season, a fact largely down to the uniqueness of Sammut.
But if you want a robot who happens to have a good kicking game or someone who plays in flashes of about 10 minutes each half then so be it. However, I don't mock your view so kindly lay off mocking mine.

Chase's petulism is a real bugbear for me.
He has the skills to do some really impressive stuff and, when I saw the Cas v Hudds game, there was certainly no lack of effort albeit a little to late on that occasion. He's not the smartest, though - if you watched the Cas defeat to HKR, Millward went mad at his team when they failed to clear their half with a safe kick late in the second half (they ended up with sheton kicking it out on the full). This is the sort of thing we'd do currently.
Sammut is probably a good call to bring the X factor you mention, without Chase's petualnce and dirty play, but Dobson organisation and % play is what we lack and what we need.

Don't forget, we have Lance who, whilst not be a perfect 6, does have confidence, pace and a bit of the X factor himself.
Dobbo would be great, but I also think Hanbury would be a good call, even if he's currently playing full back.

Sammut is inconsistent and a diabolical defender, he got shown for what he was when saints pin pointed him at odlsum. Comparing him to Longy? jeez!
Dobson a robot? If a robot can help hull kr into one of the better attacking teams in the league then I'll happily have a robot

| Chase is an outstanding player. His motivation probably comes from being such a big fish in such a small pond. I've played for football teams in the past where you are the best player by a country mile and it's hard to do it every week when they constantly look to you to drag them out of whatever mess they are in.
If he moved to Saints he would be fantastic. Same with Dobson. Same to a lesser degree with Sammut, who isn't really what we're looking for as he's a lone ranger and not really as good with the organsational duties and kicking.
Any of those three would be great signings and would vastly improve us.
