| Wheeler: Has now exceeded the point at which he needed to justify his shirt.
Shenton: Once again, "Bambi" fails to live up to his reputation. Doubtless the usual suspects will spring to his defence with the argument that no one passes to him. Have they ever considered the possibility that his team mates know it's a dead ball (or dropped) every time?
Wilkin: Has allowed his testimonial to become more important than his performances. Useless this season - when we needed his leadership the most. Did he concede 5 or 6 penalties today?
Meli: What more can be said?
Gardner: Runs hard - but if I wanted a prop on the wing I'd pick LMS (who's twice as fast - not to mention, twice as dangerous).

| Can't argue with any of that. Not the standard of players needed to take us back to our place at the top of the SuperLeague pile.
Losing patience with Hohaia, too. He's no doubt got bags of ability (his records for NZ and Warriors atests to that), but whilst always looking busy, he just doesn't bring anywhere near enough to the team for a supposed marquee signing.

Hohaia is stinking the place out. But I can't damn any player who's only played a dozen games for the club. Many a good import has come good after a shaky start. Think of Talau - or even Soliola.
I've been saying since the start of the season that we need to shunt him to seven where all he has to do is give Gaskell the ball. Lomax in tandem with Roby - with Roby moving to thirteen.
It's the only combination that gives us speed, brains, kicking, flexibility and all the talent on the field at once.

| Need to bite the bullet and give Hohaia or Lomax an extended run at FB. See what they can do there. Bring Gaskell back in to cover the move. Rush's persistence with the same team is almost as crushingly obvious as Royce's love for the 17th man to do bugger all.

Yet Wheeler was on fire in the early part of the season. Something has gone wrong there IMO. He was great last season too, when he played.
However, the whole team was pants today and the coaching is pants too and frankly the Chairman is pants for putting the team and the coaching staff in the position where we cannot even compete with Wigan when we have one man more than them on the bloody pitch!

| Lomax is not a fullback. He's a hooker. It's as plain as day.
All that kid wants is lots of ball and big forwards to run at. Playing him at fullback might give us a bit more pace and a few extra yards on returns. But you lose his workrate and ability around the ruck.
Besides, Makinson is our fullback. You can't say that Lomax is quicker, better under a high ball or an improved tackler.

He played well in a few games (against weaker defences). But he was not "on fire". If he were we'd have to find some new phrase to describe Roby.
Wheeler isn't a centre. He's a stand-off. But he's not as good as Gaskell so at best he's on the bench. But worse still he's too inconsistent. And we're always a dice roll away from yet another injury - which seems to set him back weeks every time.
We can't afford to waste time here. The kid has had far more opportunities than most players. If he isn't cutting it by now he probably never will.

| Hohaia is so embarrassing how slow he is, he looks as if he has to stop just to think!

Can't argue with most of that.
Don't be fooled by the wilkin testimonial hype, he's been this bad since 2007 with the exception of a ok season last year. He's the most overrated player to put a saints shirt on!
For me wello needs to watch today's video because he looked shocking when they made a break. I think KC needs to put a arm round wello and just tell him his times up, I don't want my memories of wello being what he is now. Carmont left him for dead!!!

totally agree he is a complete waste of the SC money.
Put it this way; if it was one of the home grown kids coming through who was putting in these dreadful performances, he would have been sent back to the reserves a la Foster, but because he is a "big money signing" we persist with him long after we should not be playing him (just like perry).

| For me guys it is John Wilkin who is your achillies heel. Giving penalty after penalty away in the second half when you needed to be in our half taking advantage of your extra man, he is well past his best.

I agree. Wellens is a shadow of his former self. Unfortunately, he's also the only back outside of the halves who runs decent lines, has an eye for a gap and backs up.

Even without giving the pens away, he's still not good enough.

As with most players nearing the end, the brain still there but the body no longer is.
I think if makinson was fullback today then he'd have stopped some of them tries.
