I've had numerous chats over the years over how it is possible for the strorm to have the quality of players they have under a restricted cap.

Can't see any SL clubs picking up any of the All-Star backs or Cam Smith as they won't want to give up Origin or Test shirts.

Think plenty will be after the likes of Adam Blair, Jeff Lima and Sika Manu as generally the Kiwi players have given better value over the years.

Makes you wonder how many Super League sides are also doing this. Given the general incompetence of the RFL it wouldn't surprise me at all.

they have also been very clever(sneaky) letting many world class players leave! plus the Brett finich is playing for pea nuts story.

I would imagine very few! as has already been hinted at club officals, owners accountents, players may well see jail time for this. This is massive and only the first story out of the club! I'm sure the Aussie inland revenue and fraud office will be seeing a few people. not many in the game in the nrl or sl are this stupid/brave/corrupt.

It's interesting that all the grief is being aimed at the management when presumably the players knew they were getting off the record money. I don't see how the players could have been unaware of what was going on so they are complicit yet seem not to have been punished.

I've not read any reports but my only guess at how any players could be innocent would be if the board told each player to keep their salary details to themselves and make a few of them think they are the highest earner at the club.

No, the players apparently all had two contracts. One for the cap auditors and one for the 'other file'.

Wouldn't the other contract be illegal? so how could it be a contract?

Or is it just a contract with the club to pay then X amount.

God knows, I'm just going off the articles I've read. I'm sure it'll all come out in the fallout.

It states there were contracts at the club offices and different contracts to reflect the higher payments that were actually made to them which were kept at the CEO's house.

The only way I could conceivably see the likes of Slater, Inglis or Smith coming over to SL is if they feel the need to escape the limelight a la Jamie Lyon. But then they could just as easily do that in French RU for twice the cash.
