The slowing the play the ball and interference reached another level today. In the end the referee completely stopped policing it. Players were doing all sorts of things to slow the play the ball, and the referee just watching on. Players picked up on it, and kept going seeing how far they could push it. It reached farcical proportions.
A great game, but the referee performance was dire - for both sides.

He was out of his depth. He didn't police anything. There were second and third efforts going unpunished and some of the holding down was an absolute joke. Not only by Wigan when they were under pressure but also by us when they were on their frequent break aways.

He's not a very good Ref... He trys to be like Karl Kirkpatrick (Who thankfully never ref'd Wire Games) in that he likes to let the game "flow" ignoring many infringements then eventually the game gets frustrating to watch.

Thaler was absolutely shocking tonight for both teams,
Knock on's missed, forward passes missed (no assistance from the touch judges either) holding down, interference at the play the ball, losing count the number of tackles in the set.
I know the game was a very intense battle in poor conditions but it was very substandard performance and simply not good enough.
