| ...to hear your opinions (sensible please!) on the comparison between Wire and Wigan and how they match up after you have seen both teams up close in the last week?

| Wigan > Wire. IMO.
If we were playing Wigan tonight we would have been hammered out of sight by half time.

| Wigan are far more intense in defence, but then offer less going forwards for me. It's a battle of attack v defence. In the end I'd side with Wigan as they would not have let in those first 18 points that we did.

| But in the end it will not matter. We are going to win every game between now and end of season. Build momentum and go into the playoffs with some form. We've had no form in the last few weeks and ran the Wire close. So imagine what we could do with a run of form and for once we came away injury free.
Hurrah!!!!

| For me Wigan's defense is better by a distance.
Warrington's attack and creativity is better by a distance.
Should be a cracker between the two. I just hope for a proper referee to be given the game so it's not a gang tackle, third-man-inathon crossed with a WWE style play the ball.

| I think the try we bombed in the first half played a big part in the eventual match result....24-nil would have changed the complexion of the match...as it happened we did bomb that chance and you got some momentum back. Had we scored from that chance it might have been a lot heavier defeat for you. Credit to your guys for digging in and making a come back...your coach will be able to build on that I'm sure.

| Huddersfield with Brough have impressed me more this season than Wigan, we blew Wigan away earlier in the season at their place and if it wasn't for a scruffy, fortunate try from Finch we would have nilled them like we have done to quite a few teams this year.
Was that just an off night for this so called superb Wigan defence ?
What you have to remember about tonight is the conditions, they were bound to fatigue players so you wouldn't expect the purest of games especially in defence where its easy to slip (like Harrison did for one of your tries) and its easier to lose your grip on wet shirts compared to dry especially with this new material they use.
I thought it was a great game given the conditions especially in that first half, you came back well and in that period where you came back you certainly played better than you did last week against Wigan.

I thought this thread was about how WE thought you and Wigan compare not about how you did tonight... If your going to try trolling by stealth be a little more stealthy

I agree with most of this....but our season has mainly been built on a solid D.
I think with B Hodgson joining in the line it is akin to having three half backs..and Monas is playing very well. I think our pivot players are better than Wigans.
And as you guys well know...its all about having good pivot players.

I think what you are forgetting is how much that WCC took out of Wigan. We'll see later in the season how it pans out.
The Challenge Cup game Wire v Wigan will also have a big say on how the eventual league leaders finish.
ps don't discount Catalan or Huddersfield.

no troll intended mate! I'm just answering someones point about how Wigan would have blown you away tonight.....they might have....but so might we if we had scored that chance....things can change a game...we had all the momentum up until that bombed chance...the momentum suddenly changed in your favour and you were good enough to fully capitalize on it...full credit to Saints for that.

| Another thing about Wigan this year, they have probably been the most fortunate out of the top 4 with injuries.
I know they have Fielden out and they had Richards out at the start of the season but how many key playmakers have they lost this year ? Their test will come if they lose either Tomkins or Leuluai for any length of time, the times ive watched them it seems to be those 2 above that have a big say in their results.
Saints have been crippled with injuries as everyone knows, both Warrington and Leeds have had a lot of injuries as well this year and to key players as well.

Huddersfield are very good team...they certainly have bragging rights over us....but the loss of Brough will hurt them against the top teams. Catalans are very good...but lack depth in their squad IMO....both will be in the mix come the play-off that's for sure.

Which "key" players have Wire missed?
