Yeah, whilst I'm no grass specialist, I suspect they're going to have to do something pretty drastic about that. It looks great from where I was in the North Stand at the start, like a bowling green. But once they began to warm up on it, you could see that any planting of the foot resulted in it cutting up dramatically. It just looks as though the under surface is too sandy (Probably to stop it being waterlogged) and the grass just hasn't been growing long enough to bed into it. It was like putting paper towels over a sand pit and running round it in studs.
Its a brand new pitch, was relaid in the off season.
That is why they played a friendly at Ruskin drive
Looks like grass has not properly bedded in yet.
This by the way is i think the 3rd pitch saints have had since the stadium opened. The first one was the same as what a number of premier league soccer clubs have installed such as Chelsea. However i understand that the drainage was too good, and it meant that the pitch was really hard come the summer. Watering the pitch didnt really do much as it was just able to drain the water away. Hard pitches put more strain on joints and if there is no give, then there is a higher likelihood of ligament damage, not to mention it hurts more when you land on it, as its like falling on flags.
Just have to hope this pitch settles down otherwise it will need replacing again.

Thanks for the tip.
We'll get an early booking in for the Leigh Sporting Village when the landlords/wedding reception won't let us play
I think Saints still use a Fibresand pitch but most Premier League teams now use Desso Hybrid pitches the same as used at Leigh. Leigh removed their Fibresand pitch as it kept cutting up.
