Quote: Lebron James "As an away fan who has visited Hull many times, I feel much safer visiting wakefield than I do hull, which is paramount given I take my daughter to away games. I was actually surprised that travelwiki doesnt have safety announcements for visiting Hull. For my next trip, ive put a tender out to local security firms to see how much they would charge to accompany me and my family.

Dear King James,
As a Hullensian born and bred, I can honestly say, that from my first visit to The Boulevard in 1964, up to the present day at the KCom Stadium, I have never seen any trouble between FC fans and any other team.
That of course doesn't include the odd minor skirmish with the red and white hordes of a KR orientation, or when one ventures into bandit country East of the River Hull. (but everyone has noisy neighbours)
Furthermore King James, if History serves you well you will know that another King, no less than King Charles I, also felt a tad unsafe when, under duress, he visited the walled city of Kingston upon Hull in 1642. Like you, he also arrived with security, but alas it was to no avail and he walked away empty handed, without the booty he had set his heart upon. and without that booty he then lost a War and in 1649 he lost his throne, and sadly his tête.
Of course King James, these days we are famously cultured and friendly mortals, who have only your goodwill and safe passage at heart. ....and 2 points of course. But please "Come to Hull" !! we will welcome you and everyone with open arms, a cup of tea, come early and we will provide you with a free tour of our amazing City of Culture. (nb. this will not include any sites of historic interest East of the river)
