| Quote: RuddyScoosers "Then a few others are cry @rseing about the style of play and being bored at the match. Well in my opinion we don't have the players anymore to play the style we've all seen in the past so we can only win games playing to the strengths of the players currently at our disposal, and we are winning right now. Style comes second to winning games for me anyway.'"
We don't have the players because we're signing bang average players which is the responsibility of KC, Rush and McManus.
There's no excuse for our brand of rugby, we're not well coached and we've signed badly for several years.

Plenty were talking in the off season about it being the end of the 5 year deal and how many would not renew and how the crowds would be dropping this year.'"
Season ticket sales have dropped significantly over the years, I seem to remember we had about 9700 season ticket holders about 4 seasons back which is now down to 7200, so we have perhaps a more significant number on single match day tickets which is subject to the highs and lows. I reckon the majority of fans have given KC bit of slack prior to his disregard to fans expectations, we will just have to see were we are as discussed in the next 5 games.

"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |
|
| Too many people moan too much, Internet forums just give those people an easy outlet. Sport as a whole has changed, not just RL and it's fickle supporters. Modern life is all too much about instant gratification, sports fans in general want it all and want it now. If people hadn't noticed, there is a finite number of top quality players available, and only one team can ever be champions(us ), too many teams think they have a divine right to the best players and wearing the champions rings. Nobody wants to work hard for anything nowadays, and that includes supporting your team and having some loyalty and patience. For me RL is becoming much like the round ball game, a crooked governing body, players throwing themselves about and 80 minutes of histrionics, and supporters not prepared to jump in there car and drive over the Pennines for a couple of hours cause it's "too far and the traffic's too bad". It's a toss up who is worse, the governing body, the 18 stone man that crumbles under the finger of a 10 stone scrum half, or the fans that want spoon feeding success along with everything else they get so easily.

| I'm an old flatulent who started watching the game a long time ago(1953) at Wildespool. Even in those far off days of unlimited tackles Saints were a tremendous side to watch in full flow, keeping the ball alive at all costs with a team of very talented players especially the greatest player of them all, AJ Murphy. For decades I didn't miss a game at home and very few away. 3 years ago I was sat in our shiny bright new stadium, the Halliwell Jones, and started to think *What the hell am I doing here?* I was bored witless. The game had turned to a load of biff-bash formulated dross and not an ounce of skill...what had happened to the dummy, the sidestep, a swerve, change of pace and the rest which was the main attraction long ago ?. Players in those days had developed their skills in the playground at school playing *tick* and transferred what they had learned there to RL. They beat opposing players mainly by kidology and not brute force. I walked out of the stadium 3 years ago and not been back since despite holding a season ticket for decades and I won't be back...I now follow the game on TV but don't often last more than twenty minutes...The sport now holds nothing for me, it's over coached, formulated played by people who have grown ever bigger, dumber and lacking very much in skills. How an earth did they get so big just by eating steak and pumping iron but that's a debate for another day.

Well said.......I will probably be joining you in about 3 or 4 weeks. Might send my season ticket back to the club and see if I can get a bit of money back on the grounds of "Not Fit for Purpose"!!

BBHO thanks for summing up my own thoughts so eloquently. I thought I was on my own but good to hear someone else with very similar views.
I've still got my season ticket at Wigan but this i think will be my last.
Next Friday will not sell out as fans will just not cough up for tripe.
Eddie on Sky will no doubt turn the game into the nearest thing to Rorke's Drift before the 80 minutes are up but people have stopped listening to the gibberish and have moved on.
One for the teenagers there.
