1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

Saints fell from a top ten place in all sports for media to a place around 34, this was judged by the media industry, in rugby league super league table (they included London as well) here is the league table for 2015, not sure why some doubt anything said?

"St Helens ban live streaming of press conferences – are they right?
February 5, 2016 James Gordon
There’s been a storm brewing over press conferences in rugby league for a while.
Following the opening game of the Super League season on Thursday night, St Helens issued a statement saying that live streaming and Periscoping of their press conferences is not permitted, ahead of their own opener at home to Huddersfield.
“The conferences are for press to grab their copy for their deadlines – sending out the full conference live effectively trumps all those that are there”

Right or wrong?, the sport needs all the media attention can get, and the print media do not do us justice as well know. Yes it is more about the use of social media as said, but it does state clearly what press conferences are for Press, quite a few print/radio colleagues discussed it with me over the weekend, London is included only because companies like JPG see them as very pro active, though in the championship. I will try and find the league table showing St Helens dropping in all sports league table for PR/Media.
It is just being constructive not criticism, for me and I have worked in print media, commercial radio all my career St Helens are not the best at PR and Media, the advertising on a few buses still show players not longer with the club? it may be the company selling the space for Arriva have just not taken them off. Yes the Star gives good coverage, but here were I live in apartments I am the only person who picks their copy up? teams like Wigan use the media and advertising much better in "my opinion" lol

Thanks for clarifying. The club seems to me to be miles ahead of where it was not that long ago, but then I don't have an insider's perspective. On the banning of live streaming, I don't have a problem with that at all. The social media index thing is interesting, although I'm not sure how much we should read into it - it's only based on activity during a single month.

| I think I will take these social stats with a pinch of salt it looks very flawed, according to its compilation there are 3 elements. First element accrues 75% of the mark between 1st August to 1st September only 31 days of activity and not a whole season. Second element is purely an average appraisal of X no of judges, Third element is a reduction entity based on message errors, duplication, failure to use hashtags spelling mistakes etc. Sounds as though some consultant has made a money spinning job for himself. (aka Adrian Johnson UMPF from Leeds)
If you look at the Leeds and Hull KR samples 1st and 3rd respectively the 75% mark first element is bang on during the Challenge Cup Final Campaign so its not rocket science that social media traffic would be heavy for these two teams. Also Wigan and Huddersfield 4th and 5th respectively were driving up the league table during that data collection 31 days, again another surge in media traffic.
Our social media season you could say is around 300 days, so to take sample data from 31 days only is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

| I'd say that it is naive to not be concerned.
Firstly I think it's important to note that the 5year deal was not taken up by as many fans as you would expect so I don't think this comes into it.
You could blame the weather but it's first game of the season which should be a big pull. The likes of Hull FC and Hull KR got bigger crowds.
Be interesting to see how this season compares with last.

| I wouldn't worry too much and to be honest too much can't be expected. Fact is that in all field sports a new stadium brings with it a spike.
Saints attendances will settle nearer to the long term mean than we have seen in the past few years because that is what happens.
Keep in mind the weather does have an impact.
