| You can't fault him effort. He takes some knocks but he picks himself up and he'll give even more. He's a hard man and you have to respect that. He is a competitor who hates losing and you need players like that in the side.
From a half-backs perspective though, he can be hit and miss. His decision making could be better but I like the way we have altered our attack structure a little bit. Age and injury have robbed him of a bit of pace and I don't think he has that consistency to his game that has enabled many halves to make that change to their game. He is prone to penalties but it's a fine line when you play the game in the way he does.
Great competitor though and you have to respect that. Quality wise though I'm not convinced.

I,m glad we,ve got him, very competitive and an irritant to the opposition. Lots of errors and incorrect decisions but plays every single minute of the game, has kept us in the top 4, he said he wanted the chance to win silverware but he can't do that with HKR who are bottom 4.

| I was all out for us getting Burns and im a fan of his but he's been a huge let down. He's been pretty clueless in attack and misses a lot of tackles but he has a very competitive edge to his game.
I think Brown wouid have been the better option in hindsight but we went for Burns so hopefully he will come good this or next year.
Im pretty shocked he passed his medical as his legs are shot.

He seems to be a bit lost since Walsh came back, do you think he's not sure what is playing role is supposed to be as per coaching staff game planning.

| The problem is he's playing like a guy who USED TO have pace but has now lost it.
He's not adapted his game in the same way that Sean Long did when his legs went.

I agree with mugs. He's lost half yard of pace and it's really effected him taking the line on. He's been more of a runner in his career.
Before this season the walsh/Burns combo looked ideal on paper but walsh has massive confidence issues and Burns lost pace so not clicked.
If possible, Id be tempted to try Burns as a 9 with robes next year if we could bring a 6 in

| Might have to run with Richardson.
The truth is Saints should have specced Burns fully before buying him.

That's a call I've been making, too. He likes a bit of rough and tumble and he's got a good pass on him, so I think he could be better suited to the bench hooker role, where he could also provide cover for the halves. Bring in a 6 with a dangerous running game and we'd have a much more balanced side.

I like the sound of that. He'd also miss a lot less tackles in the middle IMO, he like Turner struggles reading the second man plays but his actual contact is pretty decent.

| Again, a lot depends on how Lomax's legs pan out. If he's lost his zip then Saints might well look to recuperate their investment at hooker.
Can't see him moving back into the halves. And there's nowhere else in the back division for him to go.
