I think that might be because we are not seeing the finished article with Sav at the moment and only the projected potential, for me he's still a season away. Maybe Saints or Wire wanted to tie him down to a longer contract, I reckon the 2 years he's signed up for is a "shop window" period for him, with his ambition to go NRL, in the meantime I hope his development accelerates to the clubs advantage.

I believe we did offer him a longer deal and im also told he turned down more money at the wolves to stay with saints.

Good for us over the short-term. Provided it's not silly money. We need as much spare cash as possible to invest in one or two more backs.

Great news for the club. It was also nice of him to say that he owed the club a debt of gratitude after the support he has received.
Hopefully the many 'supporters' on here who slagged him off on the basis of rumour and conjecture will get behind him.

It depends how you look at it. My opinion is that Andre and his representatives have been very honest with Saints from the start. He has been very clear that he wants to go to the NRL as soon as he can, we've known that for years. His agent/parents job is to get the best possible wage for him so of course they're going to pimp him around to other clubs, he's not a St.Helens lad and it's a short career.
I hope he has a great couple of years then we can wish him well.
