Dragons Give the Aussies the Series LeadThe opening game of the World Club Series got underway at the Halliwell-Jones Stadium as Warrington Wolves looked to get Super League off to a winning start against St George Illawara Dragons.
The Wolves were without the inspirational Stefan Ratchford, out with a shoulder injury, and Tony Smith had brought in Gary Wheeler at full back. The visitors, in pre-season mode, looked an exciting prospect with Gareth Widdop, Benji Marshall, Ben Creagh and the man mountain Elo Nabuli on the wing.
With the game being played under Super League rules and Ben Thaler on the whistle the stage was set for a cracking game.

| Brisbane looked very tidy in the pack. But they are desperately short in the backs. If that's their favoured halfback combination I wouldn't put money on them to achieve much this season.
Difficult to assess St. George.
From what little I've seen I think Souths, Canterbury and the Warriors will be very competitive.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "It may help if we also had officials who knew the rules. Just had a "tweet" from an aussie journo friend of mine. Extra time golden point is 10 minutes (5 minutes each way). So Wigan should have had the advantage of pinning Brisbane back in that second half of extra time.'"
Give over. Your pack was crushed like an empty beer can by half time. You could barely get out of your own half during golden point whilst they were making 10-15 yards per carry. If you were going to snatch victory you had to do it in normal time because there was no way in hell your forwards were gaining any advantage during extra time.

Hey but lets all pretend they are no good with a team with players like Dugan. Widdop and Marshall.'"
Marshall looks very ordinary since his return from Union.

One thing is for sure though, the let's scrap it (an expanded and meaningful competition) before it has been given a real chance lobby would be in a stronger position if it wasn't for the other two games....get that?
