Putting barriers up is absolutely the right idea and as Bewareshadows poinbts out, any other method would be open to interpretation and could cause bigger problems than looking for a shorter queue.
I believe people can go from the West to the South then back through to the West if you have a ticket for the West stand but some stewards may not allow it on the day.

Someone will complain about empty seats, which there will be. So please complain here and now, stating there are empty seats after the match should be met with the ridicule deserved by those not bright enough to realize in advance.
I also expect all complaints about not being able to get a ticket to be sent to the north pole along with all other Christmas wishes.
