We got the news Saturday lunchtime in our hotel in Limerick. All of us (12) Wigan fans were devastated and it showed the RL community for what we all know it is when the pub in which we watched the England game observed the silence prior to kick off.

A great man who will be sadly missed. R.I.P.

Today is the day we lay Steve to rest, my thoughts are with his family, and the wider Rugby League family. We will continue to support your ideals, your goals and the work you have begun, always.

I went to the service, managing to get a seat in the church. It was a lovely service and a very moving event all round with a lot of people outside and the church full to capacity. I was totally undone by his son Taylor, especially when at the end of his little eulogy he said he hoped he would make his dad as proud of him as he had been of his dad.

RIP.
