Yeaman has been a quality centre and somebody I have always rated, but he is getting on a bit now and I dont think he would be a massive improvement on Jones playing there, and Jones is a lot younger. And Yeaman is Hull through and through...interestingly, somebody involved at hull told me a few months ago that Saints had agreed to sign Yeaman after the 2006 season (when he scored shedloads of tries and was a GB international) and even had the contract drawn up to sign, but he sacked David Howes as his agent because it was him pushing for the move and he didnt want to leave Hull. If he wouldnt leave Hull for Saints back then, I cant see him leaving them now.
Would have been a class signing 5-6 years ago, but sadly dont think he would be that much of an improvement now and cant see this being true'"
But Hull have Crookes and Arundle in their squad. They may be looking to shed some wages for new signings?
Despite plenty of signings, Hull have failed to replicate their trophy winning 2005 season. Back then they were real contenders, with a very tough front row of Carvell, Dowes, Thakery and Wheeldon, all of who were perfomring very well, Paul Cooke, Yeaman and Raynor, as well as some very astute NRL sigings in Swain, Domic and Kearney.
Now, whilst Hull have a lot of good players, they are falling well short. They need a real shake up and shifting stagnating players is a good place to start.
Given what I assume he'd cost, I wouldn't take him over Jones. Although it would allow him to concentrate on playing back row. However, we only need a year to see if Percival will sink or swim, (IMO) and I don't see Yeaman signing for only 12 months.
