As a Widnes fan I'm chuffed to bits after our win over Saints, but not getting carried away. We're still definitely work in progress. Its great for us to enjoy it though after a long time coming and the mauling I had to witness surrounded by Saints fans at LP last season.

I do have an affinity with Saints and so long as its not to the detriment of Widnes, I wish you well. Must be a pain right now but you'll bounce back and give out a chorus of 'You light up my senses' soon enough...

Quote: Chris Dalton "I think calling us "cack" [iwas[/i a slight on our performance.'"

The point is, though, that this here is the Saints board so if we want to call Widnes cack then we are free to call Widnes cack. And so on and so on. If you want to come on to the Saints board then you have no justification for being offended when we call you cack because this here is the Saints board.

See?

I'm not offended. I thought it was bloody hilarious.

This is rlfans. You are free to call Widnes cack. I am free to continue laughing at the bitterness over your fans going through a rare barren spell and spitting their dummy out big style.

Quote: EastStandFaithful "That's a bit disrespectful to Widnes.

Just because you had a bit of success a few years ago doesn't mean you will always compete at the top.

This could be your true level in the current era.

Why don't you just acknowledge Widnes played well?'"

I went to the game last week and it was the worst performance (particularly first half) that I can remember from a Saints side for a very long time. It was possibly the worst I've ever seen.

We had no clue whatsoever. We were completely rudderless in the halves with no planned moves apart from lateral passing. The forwards bar Thompson and Walmsley were pathetic. LMS, Puletua, Laffranchi and Perry were lazy and were shown up by a Widnes packed that played with enthusiasm. Our discipline was horrendous again, something that has annoyed me under Brown this season. Our defence on the fringes completely fell to pieces particularly down our left hand side. And to top everything off, there was no urgency or leadership within the side to drive the team forward and make it a fight and counteract it. It was like the team accepted it and nobody in the crowd really believed we would come back and win, something you wouldn't say about previous Saints sides.

The score flattered us in the end and I fear if we'd have played a top 5 side the score would've been heavy (we could find out in a few weeks, although at least Wilkin and Soliola will be back - 2 players who do have a bit of fight in them). Full credit to Widnes, they beat what was in front of them and for their fans it's a great moment, but this current Saints team is a shadow of it's former self and without 3 or 4 key players is extremely weak.

On paper it isn't weak. But it is weak in the head.
