Just been reading the league express and notices Martyn Sadler saying Gaskell was shocking for Rochdale surely he should be standing out at that level or is it a case of him just can't be bothered playing at that level and just happy with whatever he get payed for playing for them

If the lads have been training full time at saints during the day, then they wont be expected to go to Rochdale in the evening (I presume they train in the evening, being part time), unless they're scheduled to be playing for them. In which case, I would presume they'd be excused from a certain amount of Saints time in leiu

They way the Rochdale chairman has described it, it looks like Gaskell has gone looking for the extra work, and fair play to him if so.

Exactly. It's one thing to say that kind of thing on a Fans forum. It's another for a journalist to just be spouting unsubstantiated opinion. If that's journalism, then we are all journalists, why would anyone pay to read random thoughts!

He was expressing an opinion in an op ed column (that's what op ed columns are for by the way - expressing opinions).

The Chairman of Rochdale should take his own advice .

The Rochdale chairman has every right to comment on a member of his staff, playing or otherwise. Gaskell was part of his playing staff at the time the comments were made and he simply rebutted the comments made in the article. A good journalist would have asked the question before blindly publishing his unsubstantiated opinion in the press.
