Peter Bishop: Thank you Walter. I know who you are.

| Quote: Roy Haggerty "When that's the best thing we can say about a match, you know something's gone pretty badly wrong.
This isn't just one man's fault, because that entire team tonight were unspeakably bad, but whoever thought signing Wllie Manu was a good idea should be taken out and shot. He's a poor man's David Solomona, who's far more likely to lose us a game with lost possession, missed tackles and stupid penalties, than he is to actually ever win us anything.
Just dreadful. Can I be the first to start a "sack the coach" thread ?'"
To be fair to Manu, he is an attacking player who in a good side will be a big asset, I've always rated him since he was at Cas, the players to really blame are the established ones Roby, Wilkin, Wellens, Meli etc, absolutely no sign from any of them that they have been St Helens players for years.
I said on our board that its far too early to write you off yet, but as bad as you were, Hudds were really very good.

| Quote: Tez the Saint "I honestly can't believe people are blaiming Saturday's antics on the half backs.
In order for a 6 and 7 to function, they need to be playing on the front foot, and that is determined by the pack. If the forwards at not getting over the advantage, and at bing physically dominated by the opposition six, then you have no chance. Take on Sat Danny Brough for example, he was on the front foot from the first minute to the last, and the speed and aggression that his forwards were taking the ball up with gave them a quick ptb, which allowed him the time and space to control the game, and he did just that.
Put it this way, Andrew Johns couldn't have done any better playing behind that set of forwards on Saturday.'"
I agree that the lack of pack success limited the half-backs' options, but it's too simple to suggest they're blameless. In one key area, they were woeful, and it had nothing to do with the pack. Once again, our kicking game was terrible. Not only did it have no direction, but it had no length either. If the pack is being knocked back, and we're struggling to make progress, then the kicking game becomes vital, and the half-backs need to get us out of there with the boot. Yet time and again, the Huddersfield back three were fielding the ball on the full, on their 40m line. That's just rubbish.

In the second half, yes. But not in the first.

Yes, because we were kicking the ball from inside our own 20m for the majority of the game. Besides, Wilkin seems to do the majority of our field kicking anyway, so most of the blame has to be placed on his shoulders.
The new rules don't help, and forces kickers to stand a lot deeper than they would normally to prevent the risk of a charge down.

He used to play for Wigan, it's a good enough reason to boo someone
