Quote: SaintsFan "Sankey Brook is the River Sankey. Its source is in St Helens (somewhere around Carr Mill Dam I think) and it ends up in the Mersey travelling via Widnes and Warrington. The Sankey Canal (also called St Helens Canal) was constructed alongside Sankey Brook and follows the same route. Black Brook is a tributary of the Sankey Brook. It was Black Brook that burst its banks in Blackbrook. However, Sankey Brook passes through Islands Brow and it burst its banks there. Also, Hardshaw Brook burst its banks just down the road from where I live, and the road is still closed. Black Brook and Hardshaw Brook both feed into Sankey Brook.
There endeth the lesson!'"
