Nailed on that Matty Smith will have an outstanding game for Salford tonight in a good victory over Saints,,a couple of tries and assists,,hope not !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not quite.

Matty was ok tonight and in the first half in particular showed up our halfbacks totally.

He looked pretty good when Salford was on top but went missing when Salford needed him and IMO that's the type of player he is.

I disagree. Salford don't have the forwards to give him space. When we turned things around in the second half they needed big forwards to put in big effort in order to provide the space but that is what Salford lack and so Smith couldn't be as effective.

Top halves change games but I do a agee thier pack wasnt up to it.

Matty smith is nothing more than your average scrum half and will never be more than that.

I don't know I thought Smith had a decent game tonight.

I think he'll be a good signing for Wigan - if that's where he ends up.

I think he will fit in very well in wigans style of play but IMO he's not the halfback we require.

I don't think Smith and Gaskell could play in the same side so we'd need to choose one or the other for next season - Smith is the better player now but Gaskell has more potential upside. On balance I'd risk keeping Gaskell and letting the pies have Smith.

...and I still say it's a depressing sign of the times that a club like Wigan has to rely on so ordinary a player as Smith as their main playmaker for the next few years...
