| All my visits to Hull were from the early 80's through to Super league. Never been since summer rugby, for various reasons, but in all my visits ( including coach and car ) I never really felt threatened. My only incident was at the boulevard on a Wednesday night and I was stood with my mates behind the posts. Next thing we knew a massive bloke in a hull top started throwing insults left, right and centre. He was lead away by Police across the front of the terracing to a massive chorus of Boo's. He was closer to me than was comfortable but he never got violent with anybody.

| Very sad to hear about the coach incident yesterday. However I can't understand people bagging the FC fans and Hull in general.
As usual I had a couple of enjoyable days in Hull. Never experienced any trouble or felt intimidated in any way. Plenty of banter though, especially after some of the one-sided score lines there have been.
Post match had a tasty curry in the Cinnamon on Anlaby Road, followed by a stroll around the marina, and even walked through the derelict graveyard by the Whittington and Cat pub.

| I have been travelling to Humberside since around 1980 to watch Saints. I have never had any grief at all at Hull FC either at The Boulevard or at The KC. I have had quite a few pub crawls down Analby Road pre match and again never encountered any trouble.
The only places I have seen or had any trouble was at both the old and new Craven Park's which I have never found to be particularly friendly and a mate of mine was assaulted when we were teenagers by a by a bloke more than double our age. That said it hasn't stopped me from going there either.
I think its difficult for the club to control the actions of scumbags way away from the ground. I remember our coaches used to get a police escort out of the city, maybe they should reinstate this.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| Firstly as I think I said in my own post, I have not once labelled this at the door of Hull FC fans. It's an issue with the locals, but unfortunatley Hull FC play in Hull so the problems are tied together.
I do think the club could provide advise for travelling support and make the police aware of their concerns about their (HULL FC) club games being targetted by the locals for hooliganism.
Now a word about language.
1.1. Messages that contain a level of profanity or sexual content that exceeds the moderator's definition of acceptable are prohibited.
* In practice this means content that would not be allowed on television before the 9pm watershed and also applies to website addresses that link to such material. Think of it like this: any post should be safe to view at work or by anyone of any age.
Now over the last few weeks as I have been settling in there have been a few occasions where I have on occasions warned and other times edited posts. As you can see there is no defined list of words that are banned or not banned. However there are certain swear words that we all know, any dodge on the swear filter with these and I am not going to be bothered with friendly reminders, it will be warnings and that goes for all members whether by accident or not.
Dodges include using $ instead of s
starting and finishing the word but filling in the blanks with alternates
adding a swear word to another such as head and thinking this negates the swear word it does not
Then there are a whole host of words which shall we say are boarderline. This is open to moderator interpretation and the context can vary the meaning of words.
Which is where 2.1 comes in
2.1. Comments that are meant to upset or cause distress to other members are prohibited on this site.
* We will not tolerate threatening or abusive behaviour. Anyone who is found guilty of acting this way toward any other member risks being banned from RLFANS.
* This includes messages sent via the private message system.
So if you are using more colourful language against a member this can be interpreted as abusive behaviour.
Where as when used in general conversation not aimed at other members, this may pass the discretion of moderators.
If you do have an issue though there is a process to follow and it is followed by other members and has been followed by members on this board correctly to bring posts to our attention. If you report a post it puts a nice big red exclaimation mark next to the post for us to check, if you just ask in forum threads, then it means mods having to read the whole thing, trust me, I read a lot of this forum but I can't read every single post.
Also you must not forget.
2.2. Public criticism of the moderation process is prohibited.
