| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"Why, has Manu signed for them now?
Ellis will be on megabucks given the teams who were outbid by Hull. Hull had to do something special to get him ahead of Leeds, who were one of the sides bidding.'"
Can't see Ellis being on as much as people think obviously I don't know the inner workings of Hull and I doubt many people do. But FC still have a lot of top end players to replace with hopefully just as good players. Because if rumours are true Hull will be losing at least 5 first team players for next season for one reason or another so will need the cap to play about with. Also it's been reported that FC where not in fact the highest bidders and with teams such as Warrington and Leeds also after him I can't see how we would have been.
But on the subject of Manu if you do sign him you have a hell of a player there. And as a FC fan I will be gutted to lose him but also slightly disappointed with the reasons for him wanting to leave as it looks like we are going places at the moment.

How far is a "long way"?'"
Congratulations on your two points that you gained for that, as that all that ONE results means.
The fact that you are so defensive on that point shows that you know what I said has substance. Announcing the signing of Ellis and having a few good games so far shows little atm.

You could be right, but I don't think we are as far behind you as you think, also it's not just the "one result" that means a lot to me (we always do well against you lot anyway) but the attitude of the whole team since we have employed Peter Gentle. We will shake a few teams up this and next season, specially those who take us lightly. The Agar circus has left town, watch this space!

| I think Ellis will be on top dollar. Nearly every club was in for him, they were not offering peanuts. Saints and Leeds were also in for Ellis. Saints have not touched the extra 300k that you can spend on a England internation ontop of the salary cap, that was brought in to keep Tomkins. So you can see a good portion of that going to be offered for Ellis and Hull FC beat all comers, Ellis went to the top bidder, anything else like wanting to play for trophies or his local side, then it would have been Warrington, Wigan, Leeds or Wakey.
As for Saints being above Hull in getting trophies. I think it's a long season but our start has been below par and it would be very arrogant to think that it will just come right. Hull FC on the other hand have 4 more league points and a game in hand. They would need to lose all games left before half way through the season and we would need to win them all to even be level at this stage.

What saints or hull do this year is immaterial to Ellis, or Manu when considering a new contract. I would suggest that a brown coached saints will be a very different animal to what we see this year. If they want to win trophys they need to decode which side is most likely to do that in the 2013 season and on from there.

| I can see this being a on going rumour until the end of the season. I don't think it would benefit anyone at hull if they announced he's signing for saints.
I can see them revealing he's leaving(if true) but I doubt they will reveal details out of respect to all parties.
I remember being told that fozzard had signed for us but was told not to breathe a word as nick wanted it kept quite being so early in the year but saints let it slip and wolves fans was booing nick and he was not a happy bunny!

| Problem with keeping secrets is if the player tells one person, then they are more than likely to tell others. Secrets only work when one person is involved.

And it would still be rumours until either saints or hull confirm it.

| He's just too old to risk a silly two or three year deal. I mean, he could well sign for someone and play every match until the end of his contract. But think of the enormous damage that could be done to a club's recruitment plan if he were to sustain some kind of chronic groin or shoulder injury (like a Sculthorpe or a Bradley Clyde) which isn't serious enough to bring about early retirement but nonetheless leaves him repeatedly sidelined for seemingly interminable periods.
We might as well throw his entire contract in fifty pound notes on the centre spot and set fire to it.
If he were five years younger - sure. But our current pack isn't so bad that we need to spend silly money on a back row when we haven't even got a regular and effective playmaker.

Exactly,
Every man and his dog knew that Saints had signed LMS and Shenton well before it was "officially" announced.
I hope these two signings from Hull are just as good.

What you say is common sense, however, over the last few years, saonts injury crisis has been all about the younger players. We signed soliola in his prime, and lost him for a year. Shenton similarly. In general our old fellas have proven to be more robust than the kids. Let's not even throw wheeler and co ibto tge argument
