Quote: Saddened! "Will Oldham make a penny from this though? If the 3 thousand you would expect turn up for the game, at the reduced £12 ticket price, that's a maximum gate of £36,000. Take a quarter of that off for concessions and you are not left with much to cover overheads like staffing, electricity, water and policing.'"
I read somewhere that the rules had changed this season. A small percentage goes to the RFL, a slightly bigger percentage goes to the host club and then the rest is divided equally between the two clubs playing, I think to the tune of 40% each, something like that. I don't know how true that change is but if it is true then Oldham will get 40% of what will probably be a bigger turnout than would have been the case at the Whitebank Stadium, which only holds 1500. They won't have to fund the overheads either (except the free buses).
I don't think we will need police somehow!
Given that a condition of Oldham playing at Whitebank was that they were not allowed to have a Superleague team play there, playing at Langtree is more cost effective than renting some drafty place nobody wants to go to.
