Quote St pete="St pete"Utter rubbish! Players are playing in positions they should be and not where the idiot played them.'"
So you weren't one of those saying Meli was playing well at centre? That he'd been a revelation there? No, of course you weren't! Like I've said previously, Mike Appleton tweeted after the Leeds game that it was great to see Meli happy playing his rugby again on the wing. Mark Flannagan on the Superleague Show said that some of the senior players had 'stepped up and shown their leadership qualities' since Royce left, which obviously implies they were doing neither while he was here. You will have noted that a few senior players are now playing in their expressed preferred positions, eg Meli on the wing, Wilkin at loose, etc. That doesn't mean they are playing in the best positions for them or, more importantly, for the team. Just that they prefer playing there. That more than suggests they have had a say in where they play, which is exactly what I posited.
Quote St peteMakinson was been rested under Royce along with our other backs in Ade, wheeler, Meli and foster which was utter crazy.'"
Had Makinson not been dropped for the last two games - a guy who was in form and playing well, so no reason to drop him - he would be better prepared to step in tomorrow to cover for Wello. As it is now he missed one week completely and played one week in an u20s loss, so he won't be as match ready. By rotating the squad Royce was keeping as many of his players as possible fresh should injuries hit (clearly he hadn't anticipated two bans in one go).
Quote St peteRush and KC have been using Meli and Ade as extra go forward like DA did which is paying off big time at the moment.'"
Ade's been fantastic. But he was fantastic last season too until he suffered his snapped achilles. Ade's form has nothing to do with the change in coaching staff, just getting back to match fitness. At the time of his injury Royce said he needed Ade for his go forward and it was Royce who suggested that Ade be re-signed for two years, something that not many fans on here were pleased about towards the end of last season when Makinson was doing wonders out on that wing. Obviously you have forgotten.
Meli has occasionally taken the ball forward, this is true, but that won't last. It never does with Meli. He will pick the smallest bloke on the pitch and pass to him rather than take it up himself. Everybody knows this because he's always done it, sometimes across to Wello near the tryline causing fans to call him names from the terraces. Again, obviously you have forgotten.
I haven't.
