I remember watching this on Grandstand, I was 6 at the time. My brother, who's 10 years older than me, went and still talks about the hooliganism that particular day. Awful by the sounds of it.
leeds and wakey fans joined up against saints that day. was luckier than some as we got back on the coach in one piece.
looking back and its not something to be proud of or actually a very clever thing to do , but i was a lot younger then but we were tooled up that day as in those days you were almost guaranteed violence at most games home and away.
still cant believe we lost that day.............
Remember it like yesterday, Dave Topless (R.I.P.) ripped us to bits along with sum 1 called Lambskowski or sumert like that....i was 10yrs old at the time and was absolutely gutted at the result as i played for Saints U11's town team at the time and we'd been chosen to play in the curtain raiser at Wembley that year. Wakey n Widnes was the Final.
