He helped measure out the site of the ground for the glass works in the 1930s, and worked in the factory as production manager, so it was right that he came to opening game at the ground. Food was good - staff were clearly newbies but all were polite and keen to please. You get a programme for each person and at seat bar service.
Before the game there were inviews with Frank Myler, Jim Mills, and some of the injured players came by. Also Scully, Tommy Martyn were around too.
At full time there were interviews with Royce and the man of the match. Some of the players said hello - Roby even helped some one propose!
Its a good venue and worth it'"
Banbury Saint I met your grandad and what a lovely man! We (me and Ray French) presented him with his St Helens shirt and it was a really nice moment. I hope he enjoyed the night, he was great with the banter and amazing to think he has followed Saints for so long.
For anyone who hasn't been in the corporate lounge I think you would really enjoy it. My wife said her meal was excellent (we are from Yorkshire though so fish fingers would be good for us). Loads of players came in and met the supporters and yes it was a great moment when James Roby helped out with the proposal.
We had interviews with Frank Myler, Jim Mills, George Nicholls, Ray French, Lance Hohaia, Royce Simmons and Paul Sculthorpe so it's a great opportunity to listen and meet your Saints heroes. You can get autographs and photos and even have a chat with these people so a great thing for the fans.
Also noticed Paul Wellens, Sio Soliola and Michael Shenton mingling with the fans before the game as well.
You can also get to listen to some silly tales from this Yorkshireman too!
Give it a try I'm sure you'll enjoy it
