Quote: (Saint) "The reason 6.5k are going is because it's in Widnes, it's purely a matter of convenience.
In 2008 Wigan averaged over 14k but could only muster 6806 for an elimination playoff at Widnes. That's just the nature of the beast. It's hard work getting to Widnes and back on a Friday night - the crowds will significantly rise at the new stadium regardless of price, I am 100% certain of it.'"
That isn't the only reason though is it?
For instance in 2009 Saints only managed to get 6,157 to their first round play off game v Huddersfield at Knowsley Road. The truth is that people pay for their season tickets and then for whatever reason don't want to pay again for Challenge Cup / Play off games (particularly the early rounds)
Saints need to think long and hard about the pricing structure for non season ticket holders otherwise it could put a big dampener on what looks to be a superb venue.
