We desperately needed a system that wasn't based on nationality. When the system is based on what passport a player holds then under modern EU law it becomes so flexible as to be almost meaningless, hence the incessant stream of Kolpak stiffs in the early 2000s. The situation with Widdop is an unfortunate quirk of an overall much better system.

I'd be shocked if we signed any quality players now. The overseas is full fir next year and not many quality British players available unless we pay a transfer fee which won't happen.

As it stands we've got Graham Defo going and looks like Pryce, flannery are going and possibly gardner with only lance and laffranchi coming in.

It's the the team to "grace" the new stadium I had in mind. Sir mac said we will have a team to grace the new stadium but that won't be the case.

The backs IMO are truly the worst saints have had for last 15 years and needs a complete revamp. The backs lack pace, no creativity and none with the x factor. We've gone about 5yrs with only having one centre at the club with wingers, stand off and backrows covering one centre spot.

Our recruitment policy over the last 5yrs has been terrible. To many quality players going out and not enough coming in.

At this moment in time I think 2012s team will struggle to make the top 4.

Louis Anderson? Aparently on his way out of Wire since the signing of Waterhouse. Signed for them end of 2007/beginning of 2008. Would he be exempt?

He'd certainly add a bit of muscle and fire to our pack.
