Quote: Saddened! "Doom and gloom? Look at my profile pic, I'm a smile in a sea of miserable frowns.
The long term future of the club looks bright. We've got a lovely new stadium being built, we've got a squad full of primary school age players who will keep us 'solid' for a good few years and we've got a decent set of senior players. We're not far away from winning trophies, one or two good seasons of recruitment would be all it takes.
However, we are not in the running this season. The squad, even when fully fit, is too small and we're not as good as the top 3. The injuries and playing at Widnes haven't helped, but we're not in a false position in the league. Yet when I state the truth that we'll lose to Warrington, you say I'm being negative? This season we'll finish 4th-6th depending on how we react to another defeat to a rival. Leeds have such an easy run in that we could well drop into a battle with Catalans for 5th. From there, given how we can't seem to beat the top sides it's game over for this season. Next season doesn't look any better, with so many question marks over potential departures and us already being at the quota limits. We could end up with a huge chunk of cap money available (Basically the salaries of whoever leaves out of Pryce, Gardner, Flannery, Frodsham, Armstrong etc) and no one to spend it on. We're two props and at least one back short of competing for trophies. Negative? No, it's the reality of the situation. It's not time to jump off a bridge as we'll be above half way in the league no doubt, but is there any harm me telling it how it is?'"
How can you claim we are not in the running this season? We are currently 4th, just 3 points off the top. We have players to come back from innjury, which to me would suggest that as the season progresses we will improve. Therefore, in my opinion, it is extremely negative to write off the season already.
Also, I am not sure how you can say our fully fit squad isnt as good as the top 3. We havent seen a fully fit team to judge yet.
