Lyon had Long, Scully and Vinnie Anderson (I hate this term) playing inside him, compare that to Shentons service. Dont get me wrong, Shenton is not in the same galaxy as Lyon but he is being made to look poorer than he is.

There's no doubt Shenton has been starved of good ball, and hopefully we'll see more of him if things get more settled elsewhere in the side. I must say, though, for someone who was talked up as an excellent defensive centre I've been underwhelmed by this side of his game.

I've been underwhelmed full stop. Looks a very limited player to me, with more than a few defensive errors in his game.

Not a patch on a fit Wheeler IMO.

I though once again Carmont gave Shenton a torrid time on Friday night. For a player nearly a decade older and looking to retire at the end of the year due to injury problems, to run circles around one of our best English centre's doesn't bode well for Shenton's credibility.

Carmont is possibly the best centre in Super League though.

Says a lot about the standard of Super League at the moment doesn't it.

How good would Jamie Lyon look in this league? He wouldn't get a hand laid on him and he'd finish with about 300 tries.

Are you sure, because whenever I remeber Carmont threatening, it was Lee Gaskell that was marking him.

To be fair mate, you really shouldn't have expected Shenton to fill the boots of players of Lyon and Gidley's capability. Don't get me wrong, Shenton is a decent centre, but not even close to the aforementioned. And never likely to be I'd imagine.
