Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill):d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40218.jpg

Quote: Billinge_Lump "He offers little to nothing now with ball in hand, how many times last night did he beat the first man or make 10yds on a kick return? His positional sense no longer covers his lack of pace.'"

Mugwump mocking mental illness for a second time - "You are mentally ill and I can't indulge your madness any more" Utter disgusting abusive remark from a keyboard warrior:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_44308.gif

Quote: Saint Rabban "The problem so far this season has not been Royce Simmons. It's been Kyle Eastmond, and last night proved it.'"

I wouldn't go that far as to blame eastmond for everthing this but he's obviously played a big part in are terrible start.

He can't be blamed for our very poor defence, lack off effort and so on.

Let's hope last night put some confidence back in to the squad we kick on now and go on a good unbeaten run.

I'm not Jesus Christ, I've come to accept that now.
XBrettKennyX wrote: Once more the anti SC brigade, purposely or otherwise fail to see the point. Thick as pig swill.
:2595.jpg

Quote: Poyser11 "Would that try saving tackle on Ryan Hall not be included as an example of what he still has to offer? And then compare him under the high ball to how Amos Roberts was on Friday!'"

What has any of that got to do with what I posted? I think he's starting to show weaknesses defensively, but he has been for a while, but his reading of the game has covered most of that. Defensively he's probably still the best in the league at full back, offensively, amonget the worst.

Quote: Poyser11 "And for someone that's meant to be so slow, he always seems to be keeping up with breaks to offer support to the player with ball in hand.'"

With such a fantastic supporting game I expect he's near the top of the try charts then? Oh, no he isn't. The ball too often dies in his hands, which is the problem.

Quote: FearTheVee "Brent Webb is fast, but I wouldn't swap Wello for 2 Webbs.'"

And did I say I would?

Quote: FearTheVee "Wellens offered enough to score a clinching try and save several others last night, added to being faultless under some good kicks. He was magnificent IMO.'"

He scored a typical back rowers try, 5 yards out through a big gap, hardly sterling full back play. He had a good game last night, I'm not saying he didn't, but his kick returns have been a major reason for three GF losses against Leeds (and I'm not saying I think he was solely at fault), and they are getting worse.

Quote: FearTheVee "Pace isn't everything. Amos Roberts has pace but did his best to give the game to Hudds on Fri, same with Webb. Wellens is a cracking full back and gets more stick than he deserves.'"

It isn't, but it's a major asset in the position and you'll never be a truly great full back without it. Wellens reading of the game has been exceptional and covered many deficiencies in his game, it's something Webb (as you brought him up) doesn't have, but the game has changed and being a purely defensive full back gives the team major limitations.
