I am surprised no one has yet to make the connection between him coming in and Eastmond possibly going out mid season. I am not saying there is one but it worth thinking about.

Ok, If we we going to get some money off Bath for Kyle we would need to promote Gaskell to starting halfback every week and get some ameteur in to plug the hole Gaskell leaves in the second team. You could argue that this kid is that man.

I may be adding 2+2 and getting 5 and I probably am, but given the lads age and the timing of the signing it was still worth saying.

I would have thought Ben Karalius would be the obvious choice for 7 in the U20's now?

It's not about him, it's about the position he plays. After all, we do seem to grow a lot of halfbacks, don't we? We should apply for a patent!

It's great that we have recruited another homegrown talent to the squad. Long may that continue and I hope he is successful.

The thing with young half backs is although they look amazing in their youth leagues, when it comes to the big time, very few are up to it. However, they are talented rugby plays with half decent handling, and as their bodies grow they may end up in different positions. Matt Gidley was a 6 before he became one of the worlds best centres. So a decent ball handling lad who isnt small could easily cover most of the back line until he finds his best position, much like Lomax, Wheeler, etc, etc, etc!
