The is few posts on the rumour thread.
As I've just posted in rumour thread, it seems ea$tmond is using saints as a big money stepping stone to union.
Sir mac should get ea$tmond in his office and as him what he is doing. If he
trying to secure a big money move from saints then cash in now.
If bath want him so bad I'd put £150,000 price tag on him now. I don't like the fact he's been down to bath and by the sounds has agreed terms.
He will like union much better as he won't have to tackle or run with ball as much while picking up a good screw will delight ea$tmond.
It's pretty obvious his heads not at saints.

I just can't see him staying at Saints.
Unless the club are prepared to offer him an improved long term deal (and I'm not convinced the club think he is worth the gamble).
Another two year deal will just see a repeat of this which is unsettling for all concerned.

I totally agree, it's a huge gamble giving him a big money long term deal as he's not proved anything yet.
He has shown signs he could be world class but it's only glimpses.
Saints should get this sorted now before we have the, will stay or won't he when the business end of the season.

| If he doesn't want to stay with this club or this sport, then lets cash in on him now.
Lets be honest, he's been an injury wreck since he's been in the first team, and despite all his obvious talents, we've been forced to cope without him more than he's been in the side.
He won't be here next season, I'm pretty sure of that. So we either cash in on him now or let him go for nowt in 12 months. And with all his talent and potential, any Union side would part with a nice sum to get him to sign.

But there's only four months of the Rugby Union season left and Eastmond is injured (not expected back until mid Feb)
No sensible RU club is going to pay out a fee for two and half months, assuming no further injuries, when they can wait, see how his fitness progresses and get him for nothing in October.

Depends whether they want to make sure they sign him, rather than getting into a bidding war later on.

No sensible RU club would sign him during the RU season and play him straight away. Now would be the ideal time to sign him, he would have a good long pre-season to learn the games basics.
With sale, bath, Warrington all linked with Kyle and saints will offer him a deal to stay, if a club like bath want him so much they can pay for him now without being caught up in a bidding war.

| We can't pay over the odds for Eastmond. He is a talent, for sure, however his injury record means that (as others have rightly already stated) he is also a gamble. Perhaps his injuries are causing him to consider yawnion now instead of a few years down the line or maybe he's seen how well Ashton has done, a guy who had done even less than Eastmond in league when he went. We can't afford to get drawn into a bidding war for him so it's probably going to be a case of seeing how much Bath or Sale are prepared to throw at him. It's going to be interesting to see how this one works out.

| depending on where they plan to have him playing in union would the RFU help to fund his switch?? saying that though the current bath owner is by all accounts loaded and Bath have been making big signings so maybe they could make the deal on their own, but with a world cup in england coming up in 2015 RFU will perhaps be looking to build a team ready for that tournament. His build reminds me alot of Billy Whizz and we all know the impact he had in union.
