| As a wigan fan I can't describe the feelings I have for knowsley road but I'll have a go because I've loved going there and watching the best derby in the world!
I'm only a young un and started going to away games regularly about 1999. About the time Our ground was closing which was emotional and as soon as I walked in to the ground there was something special and traditional which I enjoyed straight away. Whether it was sitting on the wall at the front and being so close to the action or the fact that I myself enjoyed peeing on the wall under the family stand I think.
The ground always produced one of the greatest atmosphere's I've ever experienced. It actually sent shivers down my spine being stood in the away end on derby day. Just the incredible tension around the ground and the banter between both sets of fans which for the majority of the time was of a very good nature.
I've seen some terrible wigan performances at KR including the tragic 75-0 game! And also many other trouncings around that time but still every year I've enjoyed the build up to the day. Waking up early on a friday morning, getting the 34 into town, followed by weatherspoons and then a stroll to the ground! How that is going to be missed!
My favourite moment from visiting Knowsley Road was the 21-21 derby game. Still to this day the atmosphere when farrell and sculthorpe where scrapping was fantastic.
One thing I will say about Knowsley road is that it holds alot of memories for me as a visitor and I am going to miss it. Yes, Saints do need to move with the times and to move forward do need to move to a new ground but what a place it has been!
I actually had a tear in my eye the last time I was there with wigan because I knew it was likely to be the last time I would visit the ground and something deep down inside me actually quite dissapointed that you chose huddersfield in club call this week because I wanted another one of those fantastic fridays in St.Helens and to experience more Knowsley Road derby day atmosphere!
RIP KR and thanks for the memories good and bad!

Has that been confirmed then? It would be a horrible way to leave the ground. Why not Friday?

According to RedVee the club are looking into a friendly at Christmas but apparently Taylor Wimpey will already have moved in to some part of the ground.

Bloody stupid. For me, the last game is Friday, regardless of what dumb stuff the club might be thinking of.

| We could always take a slab of concrete/seat with us to ensure they couldn't possibly do it. I was planning on taking several sentimental objects from the ground with me anyway.

I've got my eye on the big screen. I reckon it could be the touch the front room needs to finish it off.

I thought Syd was having that for his mansion. He'll not be pleased if you nick that from under his nose.

| After friday that should be it for rugby league at Knowsley Road. Would have thought the u21 grand final would have been the ideal curtain raiser, (but thats on saturday). Followed by a playoff game that will have forever live in the mind.
Certainly a friendly isnt the way to leave this great stadium.
