Just glad somebody else has said that.
I've been going to KR for over 45 years but haven't the foggiest what my first match was. Like most people I was taken as a young kid by my dad who just lived and breathed Saints and RL. He rarely missed a home match even in ill health shortly before he died in 2005.
Definately time to reflect on Friday.

I can't remember my first game either, I remember being there as a kid sat on the wall but can't remember any more. The first game I remember was playing Paris the day Diana died as it was my first experience of a minutes silence at a game and after the game we went to meet the team. There again I have never been one to remember all the details of the games!

| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"I'm going to be quite emotional for me. Knowsley Road has been one of the only constants in my life, it's been there, unmoving for as long as I have memories. I remember walking into Knowsley Road for my first ever rugby league game, being so, so excited that my Dad finally said I could go with him. I remember him carrying me out of the same game, so strong like he was made of iron. I can remember when I was a little bigger running around behind the away end at Knowsley Road with the friends I'd taken to the game, I remember kicking the cone style hats off the policemen's head in the corner when they had a seat there. I remember having my first kiss there, a =#00FF00bloke from St Helens called =#00FF00Johnny Vegas. I remember going to the games against Warrington fearing that elusive defeat would finally happen and I would be slaughtered in school, I remember the delight in it never materialising. I remember being there for my Dad's first heart attack, being so scared. I remember him walking back to the town centre for my Mum to pick us up before he collapsed. I remember his first game back after that, being so relieved that he could still go. I remember cursing him as I dragged him drunk back to Morrisons for our lift home one time, I remember him carrying me back when I'd had too many during my teenage years. He's had three heart attacks since and yet he's made all but a handful of the games there. I remember all the chats we had there, about leaving primary school, GCSE's college, uni, work, girls, having my first son. I remember us going and seeing my Dad cry as he watched me carrying my son back to the car, sound asleep, after his first game.
The worst thing about Friday is that my Dad isn't going to be able to come. He's in hospital and his health is deteriorating fast, so the passing of one of the constants in my life is likely to closely coincide with that of another.
I hope we don't lose.'"
Edited for accuracy
JK, hope Saints go all the way.

| Can't remember my first game :
I know I didn't see big Mal play but pretty certain I went before the Halifax Challenge Cup Final. We moved house in 1984 and I found a silk Saints scarf in the loft, that kinda started my interest off. My dad used to take me every now and again, then I started going with a few lads from school. I then got the bug and went to a couple of aways on my own in at the end of the 1991/92 season with the first of them being the 8 all draw at Cas when Bishop missed an easy conversion. I walked over the pitch at the end of the game and kicked the sand over, from the mound he had left from the goal kick, it was easy.
At the start of the 1992/93 season the first game was away to Leeds, I was gutted to miss the nilling of the pies in the Charity Shield at Gateshead the week before but then started going eveywhere with my cousin.
Does anybody know what seasons the games were live on ITV with Elton Welsby on a Saturday afternoon?

| What a somber thread.
I'm lucky really as my dad is still in good health and is coming to the match with us on Friday.
My first game was in 1978 and I was taken there by my dad. I think we played the Aussies and got pasted. I started going with my mates in the 83-84 season when some matches were on Granada on a Friday night. And running onto the pitch at full time.
Most memorable occasions are Les Quirk's try vs Hull in 1990-91 ish. 12 man saints knocking Wigan out of the cup. Wide to West - I ended up on my from the mad jumping up and down. I remember the gleaming faces of people looking down at me as I lay on the terrace. The 41-6 game against Wigan. The 5-4 loss to Wigan in the Lancashire cup when we had 25000 in the ground. They had Botica kicking and we had Bernard Dwyer because Lockers was injured. My son's first match when he was 4. He sat on my shoulders singing Come on you saints. He's now a 13 year old and has been coming with me ever since then. Although, he's more interested in snogging his girlfriend these days
I'll miss our lucky spot where we have to stand come rain or shine.
I'll miss the funny comments the old lads and lasses make to the opposition, touch judges and refs.
I'm dreading the end of Friday's match when it'll all be over.

PMSL Funniest thing i have ever seen on these boards
Anyway i've enjoyed reading all your posts on here, as a Wigan fan i've got my fair share of good and bad memorys at KR despite it being on its last legs its still my favourite away ground to go too and I will certainly miss the yearly trip.
Hope you all have a great night on Friday and i genuinly hope you win (as long as we do) so its a Wigan V Saints Grand Final once again
