| Quote Teessidewire="Teessidewire"Only one person thought it was a try, unfortunately for you it was the Video Ref. It was definately offside, what's the point of the Video Referee when he ignores what's in front of him.'" i find it difficult to believe that bentham was convinced both feet were behind the kicker. i wonder what ganson would have given had bentham passed it back as refs call!

| Quote McClennan="McClennan"The last Smith try was a 50/50 call from where I was sat. Haven't seen the replay than other on the big screen but it looked 50/50 last night.'"
I thought and still think he was offside, but I also think there is doubt about Eastmonds try. I can't believe we were never shown a "side on view" which would have confirmed whether it was a knock on or not.
The soft Diskin try was a big blow for you, and one that should never be scored at top level.
The momentum turned Leeds way from that point.

And whenever a team kick an early drop goal they do so precisely because they are [inot[/i on top of the opposition.
A handful of our players making ridiculous errors cost us that match. I hope they - and they know who they are - are really feeling it today and will do so for a long time to come!

| Am I blind or are there just idiots posting on this thread? It was offside end of! Forget whether he looks in front or behind, forget the nonsensical rule that doesn't exist that he was behind the ball as well. You only have to look who was nearest to the ten meter line and see it was McGuire and therefor Smith offside. Ruined a good game for which Saints could still have won!

| Quote Blobbynator="Blobbynator"Having watched the game again though, we were our own worst enemies at times. 8-0 up, playing really well and we didn't kill them off. Big mistake!'"
You can't kill off a champion quality side so early in today's competition but I agree that our mistakes gifted them the game. Pretty much all Leeds points came off the back of Saints mistakes. Penalty for the first, Wello being slow across for the 40/20 (you could say this was great play by Sinfield but Wello looked slow for me), muffed kick, muffed kick off, penalty and knock on. We didn't deserve that.

I find that laughable.
It was a very exciting final - very. To say it was ruined by a call that could have gone either way is nonsense to say the least.
Its pointless to say "which Saints could still have won!" well yes but by teh same token you could easily say "Leeds could have scored twice more". the fact of the matter is you simply can't know what would have happened.
The call was 50/50 - I've seen them given, I've seen them disallowed. The angle they really needed was the angle that was clearly obscured by the camera gantry. IMO Bentham had no choice other than to award the try

| Quote daves="daves"Just watched it back and it looks a 50/50 call on the replays. Some you get, some you don't'"
Well you got the 50/50 call on Eastmoors try it looked like a clear knock on to me having touched his hand it then makes contact with Donald BEFORE he regathers and scores.
Cancel out that try and Smiths try and we are still clear winners 2 tries to none

| Quote orford_addict="orford_addict"as a Wire fan looking in thought Benthams on-side call for Lee Smiths last try was VERY dubious : as much as I don`t like Saints (sorry !!) in any other match with any other video ref I think the try would have been ruled out
but a great effort by Saints and well done !!'"
He'd ave scored even if he was on-side. If you look at the replay theres about six Saints players stood still watching him go over the line.
