Never thought I'd see the Band on anyones list - not a fan but can't imagine why such a modestly successful group could create such emotion

Too many to list really, but current top three would be:
Queen
Florence and the Machine
Alt-J

Many of the bands mentioned on here I don't like, and plenty more that aren't.

But only two I really hate.

Madonna (not really a band I know) - truly talentless yet no one ever seems to notice.

Queen - they represent all that is stupid about the British music buying public, camp operatic crap dressed up by a bunch of grammer schoolboys as rock'n'roll.

I know by definition there are no "real" British rock'n'roll bands and many were middle class boys but at least the Who, Stones, Clash and even the Beatles gave it a decent stab. Queen took the mick.

Florence and the Machine, good one - another example of the kings new coat.

She can't sing and seems to think louder is the same as higher.

Add into that Meatloaf!

Any thrash/deasth metal band. Small hint... Screaming is not the same as singing, and lamping seven shades out of your guitar isn't the same as playing it.

No one has said U2 yet which I am suprised about. I do have a passion of hating Bono and the "Edge".

I often wonder if it's the music or the men with U2?

I'm a bit like that with Oasis, I detest the brothers rather than the music.

It's not the Beatles music I hate or the fab four themselves. It's the pseudo intellectual bullcrap industry that has grown around them and mythologised them into so much more than they were. That and the over sentimentalised scouse hero worship.

I'm a big Stones fan so I am biased I admit but the one thing that really irks me is that IMHO from Satisfaction (65) through to Brown Sugar (71) Jaggers lyrics were way ahead of anything Lennon or McCartney managed. Yet he and many others barely get a mention due to the Beatles mafia shouting everyone else down.



PS: I'm fully aware that the Stones shamelessly exploit their back catalogue and have not had a decent LP since Some girls (76), a classic since Exile (70) or a decent single since Start me up (80) - but then none of the Beatles have done any better.

I think if you want bands being mythologised, then you can go no further than Guns And Roses and The Stone Roses, both of whom never produced more than an album worth of decent music, yet both are spoke about as some sort of God-like geniuses.

Certainly not bad bands, but their reputations certainly outstrip their actual talent and overall musical output.

On a similar note... The Specials. First album great, second album 'OK', third album should never have escaped the studio.

I think Muse are utterly terrible. Radiohead aren't much better but I can appreciate some of their stuff. I seem to be in a small minority here but Arcade Fire just do nothing for me either

Hate is a strong word though, it's just harmless crappy music.

I've seen Coldplay live and I thought they were brilliant. Their albums are pretty dull to me but I really enjoyed the concert and would see them again.

To be fair I think their latest single 'Doom and Gloom' is amongst their best work.

I forgot about Radiohead as well, can't sand them. I used o hate Muse and never understood what all the fuss was about until I saw them live, they really are a world class live band, and amazing musicians.

As I'm typing this I remebered that I can't stand anything Rod Stewart has done out of The Faces.

Can i nominate Westlife,Maroon 5 and Savage Garden?.

Anything from Pop Idol, X Factor.
