Fav venues from my days out playing in local bands

Fibbers, York - Always loved playing there
The Puzzle Hall Inn, Sowerby Bridge - Small intimate venue
Li'l Back Yard Club, London - Gritty venue with some wicked bands usually on
The Trades Club, Hebden Bridge - Always enjoyed it there, bit of a local haunt
Love Apple, Bradford - Nice little venue

International venues - mostly club based

Zouk, Singapore - Best Venue I have had the pleasure to play
Space, Sharm - It kicked off a little but a great club
One Lounge - Pune, India - Small but a great crowd
Tattingers, Malta - Played there twice now and enjoyed it both times
Van Gogh Club, Russia - Not sure if it still exists, a club above and bellow ground built around a disused nuclear bunker near the Ural Mountains! Great crowd too!

Strange how one person likes a venue and another dislikes it!

When Cockpit over sells a gig it's horrible.

Never noticed that to be honest.

I was once at a Kaiser Chief secret gig there in about 2005 and the overspill went into the other room. Got quickly out of hand

Was that definitely overspill, or was it not people trying to escape the godawful noise that was the Kaiser Chiefs?....

I was young....

Best - Leopard, Doncaster & Adelphi, Hull. The Adelphi is probably the biggest poo hole I've seen gigs in, but it somehow has a great, old-fashioned ambience. Clitheroe Grand isn't bad either on a 'next size up' scale of things.

Worst - Anywhere that holds over five or six hundred.

Worst:
Lancashire Cricket Ground (Feels too far away from the stage)
Heaton Park (Nightmare to get away from late at night)

I'd suggest an obvious neglect of H&S and gig capacity, in probably ten years of doing the Cockpit I've never felt uncomfortable.
