| Good man
Its a double edged sword tbh
While the net, social media etc are great tools, its all too easy to be swallowed up in a sea of mediocre music and be overlooked. In addition it is much harder to make a living now, if you don't play live or create music that doesnt translate to live then making a living in pretty much impossible now from music alone. I think that due to this, it is changing the landscape of our musical experience. Bigger labels are spending less time and money on the recording side of things and labels large and small are taking less risks and as such artists have to have pretty much made a big splash and largely lose a certain amount of uniqueness before they recieve any industry input. That said, labels are largely becoming a dwindling stage in history, live agents and management are the new movers and shakers with artists making I would guess at over 85% of their money from live alone nowadays. So yes, the net is great to get out there, but making a living in 2013 is becoming harder than ever based on the old model of the music industry. Artists need to be performers, studio engineers, multi-instrumental, industry savvy, media experts with a clear vision and flexible beyond belief now.

| I've succumbed to downloading more and more in recent years but I never, repeat never, steal music; I hate the casual way that this generation does it and I wish that artists could be better protected.
An iTunes purchase has nowhere near the same thrill as buying an album and I miss holding the artefact in my hands and reading the sleeve notes and lyrics, but it's just too convenient to not do - hear a song on the radio/telly, look them up on iTunes, buy the album; it's frighteningly efficient.

| I buy music but I vary on what I buy it on
For instance a band or label I love I will buy CDs, for instance anything by Manics, Coldplay or Anjunabeats label I will buy on cd
Everything else straight onto iTunes to download
Plus CDs take up so much space!

| I've give up actually purchasing music either hard copies or digital. I have however for the last 12 mnths started to stream all the music I want / listen too.
I currently have a Spotify Premium account however I have recently taken a free trial with Sonys Music Unlimited.
The only issue I have is with the Apps (iPhone / iPad) they are all flawed slightly in one way or another which is a shame because paying a fee per month you'd expect them to be totally polished for music on the go.
Does anybody else use a streaming service? If so which one and how do you find it?

The downside to that is that in ten years time you'll not have a physical version to play. People won't have record collections!
