Given the squad disruption and the weather, I thought it was a good result and performance. Brian Mac wrote us off at half-time and didn't think we'd be able to come back in the conditions. It had banana skin written all over it after what happened against Huddersfield last time around.

Quite a few players otherwise regarded as fringe did well, e.g. Thompson, Ferres, Donaldson, Alex Sutcliffe.

I think with our full strength available squad (i.e. not missing the 7 players who pulled out) we would have comfortably pulled away in the second half, converting some of those missed chances and disallowed tries.

Not getting at all carried away, but sometimes you can only play what is in front of you.

Don't think fans were that wrong re - Thompson /Ferres/Donaldson.
Surely we'd be better using this season ads free shot to blood the next generation?

Which Im sure they will at some point. What yesterday proved is that in this odd season you can have a situation where you have to stand down 7 players, literally 2 hours before kick off, we need a big squad including youngsters, we haven’t got into the intensive run of games yet.

Thought Oledzki was immense againlast night , long may it continue.

With the disruption around the squad id of taken any kind of win at kick off, add in the conditions, im ok with the result.

1st half was poor ,very disjointed no fire (Mik aside) & it cost us. However 2nd half we came out firing & tbf should have won by more. A real sleeves rolled getting stuck in performance all round.
For me Mikolaj was M.O.M Donaldson was excellent Dwyer Thompson & Ferres were good & Lui did better as well.
In terms of effort & result you cant ask for much more than that 2nd half.
I still think we lack genuine quality & i still think the younger forwards should be playing.
Anyway onto next week , we wont get away with another 1st hslf like this one v HKR though.

Iv always been a big fan of his, but was starting to worry he wouldnt be the player plenty of us thought he would become. Great to see him heading in the right direction again, especially his workrate, which has improved greatly recently.

Hes still very young. Got a lot of developing still to do yet. Going to be a good player for Leeds for a long time. Never doubted him ever.

I know he's still young. He didnt kick on as id hoped last season, thought his workrate wasnt where it needed to be, ultimately losing his place in the 17. Great to see it was a blip and he's starting to put together a string of dominant games and looking like the best young prop in the country again. Well done on never doubting him.

Let's hope holroyd follows a similar path.

I can understand wanting to blood the youngsters but this wasnt the game to do it in. Standing down 7 players hours before kick off and throwing them in without the necessary prep could easily have backfired. I think that they need to know that they are playing a few days in advance so they can sh@t themsleves , get it out of the way and be compoesed come KO. This is going to be a strange season and i'm sure they will get chances

Ava was again out of his depth when we were up against it and struggled alarmingly. Maybe a spell from the bench will do him some good.

Oledzki was again excellent and in the first half was like a one man pack. All the bench made an impact.
