But that would be their choice to join that set up. We should not change for one club.

No there doesn’t. You don’t change rules for one club only.

Oh come on. Yes we do. Like we gave Catalans protection from relegation in their first few seasons. And it’s a good job we did. Otherwise they’d have gone down in their first season.
The league change the rules for clubs all the time. Clubs often get allowances made for them in the fixture list. Whether it’s for football clubs they share with, for their pitch being relaid or for stadium redevelopments.
In the NRL the Warriors consistently don’t play alternate home and away.
The principal is already there. It’s just a matter of finding a middle ground.

| Totally agree HIM.
If as a sport we want to include Toronto and the likes of Ottawa and New York you have to make certain concessions.
We can of course just stick to teams around the M62.
Some people just want their cake and to eat it.

| GH must have sworn everytime the wages were paid - Yorkshire war cry "Ow Much"
Big sigh of relieve from the CEO - 2 marquee players gone in a season - plenty cap room for more Donaldson and Crosbys!!

| Well if Merrin does go, and I know this isn’t a universally popular view, but it gives us a chance to plan for a better balance in the side. We’ve been chasing our tails reacting for over a year and this could be a new direction for us.

| Merrin going just when we seemed to be getting things together two steps forward one step back.i interesting to see Leeds have put a time limit on him finding a new club.so hopefully this can be concluded quickly and Leeds may already have someone lined up

| If Merrin goes it gives us the chance to sign an overseas marquee half back, presuming we haven’t already signed Luke Gale

Too late for that, but possibly a marquee hooker or forward.

| Without merrin we could well have gone down this season. If he goes getting a suitable replacement will be key to next season

| You do start to wonder what the point of signing Aussies as marquee players is though. They chase the cash for a year or two then look to go back at the first sniff of a half decent contract.
I'd much rather we signed top class British talent. I know they are not immune to the lure of the NRL but it's a much bigger choice for a British player to go then for an Aussie to go back home.
We have had much more success over the years with the less 'popular' Aussies signings such as Kylie, Delaney, Hidden to name just 3.
Just saying
