| Quote: West Cumbrian Rhino "He makes a lot of ground and scores a few tries, the problem with him is is that he's a full on penalty machine!
In 2009 he was the most penalised player in the competition, in 2010 he was 4th!
Could do without players like him when we already have our fair share of hot heads.'"
That can be sorted out though and I know you can look at his age and think, well if it hasn't been sorted by now, it never will, but McDermott seems more of a disciplinarian than the other coaches he has had. To me though, it's his work rate in attack and defence. He is none stop when he is on the field and I think this may be where the penalties stem from. He just gets a bit carried away. Maybe in a team full of star 2nd row forwards he wouldn't have to try and carry us like he does the Bulls.

| Sorry to see Pitts go I saw a lot of potential in him but he hasn't had the game time to push for a place. The coach sees more of him than me so lets hope he's got it right, opens up a door for others though. Good luck to you Jay

Elima is a perfect example of Mr Field's BDL Syndrome.
I don't believe he concedes penalties and gets himself suspended because he's trying too hard, I believe it's because he doesn't engage brain before swinging arm. See his late hit on Gaskell(?) the other week for an example.
He's a poor man's Eric Anselme.

| Elima is a pretty good player once you ignore all the discipline problems.

Jamie Thackray is a great player if you ignore his off field issues, his poor ball retention, his hot and cold form, his track record of never staying too long at any single club, his attitude and his age

| Meh. He was never going to make it, and I doubt he'll ever be more than an average player for Hull.

| The amount of games Pitts played in the first 17 over his period at Leeds was minimal which means one of two things
a) He didn't show enough in training to merit/force his way into the team?
b) Both Grand Final winning coaches were wrong?
I personally believe answer a) is more than likely as he couldnt force his way past the incumbents holding spots in the back row and was never big enough for the front row.
I think Hull have got a reasonable Super League back rower.....no more, no less.
Good luck to him

| I think Pitts has shown in his limited game time that he has allround rugby skills but is perhaps lacking in the fire-in-the-belly department. If he can add this to his game he will have a good future.

| He definitely deserves a shot at SL, and although he may have been behind the pecking order at Leeds, that's not to say he's not going to make it. As I said a few pages back, he did look pretty useful in the Cas game, certainly better than Clarkson on this year's showings.
