| The resignings of Fusitua and Bentley continue to cement themselves among the worst retention decisions in the history of Super League.
Anyone with any input should hang their head in shame

| Well one thing Smith did show is that its possible to get rid of players who are contracted if there's a will to do it. None of the players he shunted out were a big loss. Sadly too many of the replacements are poor and the wrong type of player. I can't see us doing enough of a cleanout to fix next year, but if we start making better decisions and younger players develop the longer term looks good.

| I’d like Eseh plus a starting calibre prop ideally.
We are desperate for a different type of back row. Especially with Martin going.
I don’t think that’s a big ask considering we can use Hall/edgell/ Smith/Mcormack for the Fus wing berth. Eseh wouldn’t be unobtainable I don’t think. Big NRL prop and back row with the two quota spots, then give Arthur a preseason to weed out the weak.
My only other thought would be he might look at his sons, Matt’s a hooker, which would allow us to use O’Connor at 13, and Jake is a half, but I think he’s just signed for Manly.
Realistically looking at Arthur’s eels teams they were built around massive packs. Paulo, Campbell-Gillard, Lane and previously guys like Nathan Brown. If Arthur stays that’s his teams blueprint so I’d imagine that’d be where he’d start.

That’s all presuming Arthur stays, as Ive said on the Salford match thread, I’m not convinced bringing in Arthur for him to leave after ten games will actually do us much good in the grand scheme of things.

| if he does stay, and I hope he does, I think a full preseason will see a huge difference next season. it will take that long to erase smiths shortcomings and make them more cohesive and mentally stronger

| Bringing in BA was the correct decision, however I have a feeling he won’t commit to a three year contract. Balance of probabilities Rowley will be the next coach. Just a wild guess but if BA goes back to Australia Rowley is the best option, I would rather steer clear of Australian assistant head coaches thank you very much.

| BA will give some valuable and necessary feedback on all the squad with fresh eyes and high standards. Blease needs that input even if BA goes.
I think we’re just vulnerable to other options in Aus - if there’s something good there he’ll go back, if we’re the best game in town he might stay.
People seem to assume Rowley can just be plucked from Salford but I’m not so convinced, and I’m not convinced he’s the right coach either. Watsons star was pretty high on here for a season or two for example.
For me Arthur’s philosophy is attractive and I do think he’s our man, but that squad is so disappointing still.

My concern is if Ba leaves it till the end of the season and then decides to go back to Australia, we are up the creek without a paddle. Without a coach and a playing squad that is largely sub standard. It’s possibly the worst situation to be in. I Still can’t believe that we are in this dreadful position, not much prospect of a quick Turnaround either.

It would be a nightmare if we were left high and dry but surely Blease et al have considered this scenario and have planned accordingly. It must have been part of the conversation with BA and therefore others on the back of those conversations. Surely?

You would have thought so, unfortunately the track record of management decisions emanating from the club in recent years has been woeful.

For all the talk of us being years behind I think three quality forwards stops the bleeding pretty quickly. At least we'd then be in a position to assess and develop our young backs accordingly. I've got nothing against Eseh, but I wouldn't target him as part of the solution unless Sangare or Goudemand leave. Please, no projects this time.

| Any significant improvement doesn't have to take years. Hull KR finished 8th 2 seasons ago and are now top.

This exactly we seem to keep putting the power in the wrong place.

It has, and recognised as a failing, hence Blease coming in? He comes with some credentials, it's inconceivable, isn't it, that it hasn't been worked through?
