| Quote: ArthurClues "He's still 28, but he seems unsettled at Newcastle. It would be a bit brutal on Frawley especially given his recent form, but Blease has been brought in to make tough unsentimental calls. Still won't quite believe it till I see it.'"
The only team Hastings has been settled at is Salford. There he was topdog and bossed the team, got everything he wanted, all of which made Hastings look special.
Before then and since then he was stunk out the clubs he's been at with a very toxic personality that demands to be centre of attention. Wigan got rid because of this, as have West's and now he's yet again unsettled at Newcastle.
If Leeds need players to create a positive/successful enviroment then Hastings really isn't your man.

| Sounds like its not happening anyway and was just speculation off the back of him struggling currently at Newcastle. Losing Martin is a shame but at least there is clarity now around the cap and available quota space and Leeds can plan recruitment properly for next year.
Clearly we need 2 big forwards either 2 props or 1 and a big back row and at least one of them needs to be able to play big minutes and match Oledski numbers. If we can add that and another high impact type to spell Lisone we would look more like in the pack. We have at least one spare marquee spot available as well

| There may be a plan somewhere but i do not trust the club to get it right , we have been here for 7 years , the club just drifts along and are losing supporters . The away following is shocking and can anyone blame people for giving up on the club .
2nd rate signings and no team spirit , a coach who was allowed to drift along even when a layman could see it was not working .
i am not a jonny come lately so i have seen it all but even in the dark days we were playing attractive Rugby , we are not even capable of that now .
Who has played well this season .
Most games , Martin and Handley
Some games, Croft and Oledzski
Very occasionally , The rest

We can’t be held hostage to paying big wages.'"
The 3 same comments when losing a player to another team in super league (mainly Leeds fans)
1. ‘If their offering silly money they can have him’ wrong you offered him the same deal
2. ‘He’s past it anyways looking for one last payday’ he’s going to be 32 in march 2025 not exactly old
3.’we’re bigger than them why is he going there’ Leeds are not a big club anymore in terms of league position etc you’re middle table dwellers, you all say it every week after a loss but when another fan says it it’s suddenly different
until the dinosaur that is gary hethrington goes you'll get nowhere, he got gifted a golden generation and now hes had to dip into the market every year he's failed
no doubt hes keeping blease on a tight leash

You are totally correct in all you say except of course we do not know how much money he has been offered at either club

| If Martin wants to go, fair enough. I wouldn't be offering much more than he's already on, and I wouldn't be offering him more than 2 years.

And? I'm not responsible for the contract offer. I said I wouldn't offer him much more than he's currently on. I think the club share that view.

Agreed. For all we know, the first offer may have been for less than his current contract, and then the improved offer could have been for the same money as his current contract. Only the club and Rhyse really know.

So we needed to add to Martin , now we have to replace him with someone as good plus another as good or better .
I won't hold my breath

| Let's not forget, Martin was a reserve grader with less than 30 NRL games by the time he was in his mid 20s, all whilst playing for one of the weakest teams in that comp. Yes, he's been great for us, but he's in no way irreplaceable.

Miller, Sinfield, Momorosvki.
Croft kicked some in his early career.
Obviously nobody near Martin’s experience at goal kicking.

Other than Sinfield (who seems a way off forcing his way in the 1st team) I don't think any of others are qualified. Miller misses more than he kicks in warm up, and in any case given the development he requires in the rest of his game, the last thing he needs is that kind of pressure. Unless we want to take a big step backward in perhaps the only facet of the game where we have an edge on the competition we'd have to bring one in as a guaranteed starter.
