| Jon Wilkins was a tough player and a mongrel as a small forward in a big tough man’s world as a player.
The statement he gave with honesty is a huge clue to where Wigan and Saints have it right and where we are going wrong at this time.
The last time we corrected this was when Doug Laughton came in and got rid of the slow small players and brought in Big faster more aggressive ones.
Big Mick is a free hit for all the other forwards in the league he never re acts it’s not in his nature and everyone in the league has no fear of him not to single him out no one else bar Bentley can help him.
People who have played at any level very very quickly work out who to mess with and who not

Totally agree. Wonder if we’re all in agreement on here now Smiths race is run… he’s out of his depth. Terribly disappointing for all and it’s not what we wanted at season start, we were expecting a good competitive season with a top 4 challenge. It’s absolutely shocking. This should have been a game where we came out firing on all cylinders. Fuming. Hull fc are poor

I've come to that conclusion. There are occasions where it just doesn't work out between coach and club and this is one of them. I genuinely wish RS well for the future but in the best interests of all concerned it's time to move on. I'm sure Blease will be having the conversation. I'm equally sure RS knows the score.

That will be Shaun Wane then? You should have gone for him before Smith. I think he was quite a poular choice on here if i remember rightly. I don't want him to leave Wigan but i would be fascinated to see what he could do at a big club in decline like Leeds or a Hull. His rugby isn't always pretty but he always gets every last drop of effort from his players. He is renowned for utilising the academy and promoting from within too. It's everything clubs like Leeds, Wigan and Saints are built on. You need somebody who gets the culture of being in charge of one of these sides. The imposters of these roles never succeed.

| We know this set of players can play a lot better than that. I think they've given up on the coach. Its getting to the point where Smith should walk away, as if the players have lost faith it will just be like this more often than not until he goes, and that looks to be a very unhappy group of players. Its unfortunate with the timing of Rob's passing, but once the players check out the coach is a goner.

| Oledzki is a workhorse prop. He is not and never will be the sort of prop who opposition fear. Not because he doesn't get aggro, but he just doesn't/can't run or hit with the kind of sheer power that others do. If the rest of our rotation was full of mongrel he'd be the perfect balance. Sadly the rest are complete powder puffs, and Oledzki looks worse than he is a lot of the time.
If you want to fix this team up though then size and aggression up front are what's needed. We have zero platform for Croft or the backs, and everyone looks awful. Martin is our best forward, but as an OS player he may need to be sacrificed to get us some oomph. But really the rest of the forwards are almost laughably bad as a unit. The only way that could change is if a new coach comes in and tries to get them to tear in. I don't think we have many that could change, maybe Holroyd?

| Our pack gets bullied every week and continually gives up cheap yardage when defending. Croft needs to play behind a dominant pack to get the best out of him if we can see this then surely Blease will do too.

| I was thinking just after half time we should have pushed Smith up to prop, O’Connor to 13 and brought Johnson on.
Goudemand doesn’t do it for me at prop. He’s a bench back row who can emergency cover prop if needed.
Smith is slowing us down too much, he is struggling for form. Sangare gets bagged but he gets passed the ball with 2 opposition forwards already on him, he has no chance.
Honestly have doubts over all Smith’s signings. I still like McDonnell but he needs to be our smallest forward. The conditions played into Hull’s hsnds today as it exposed our poor skill and lack of physicality.

I’d like Wane if he’s up for the job

Jim we just look poorly coached. Smith isn’t getting a tune from any players. That squad isn’t brilliant, a long way from it but it’s much better than what we’re seeing.

There’s quite a lot of talent and skill in the squad it’s just not manifesting itself!
They’re nowhere near as bad as that show they put out today

Didn't go today and haven't watched the game yet. Doubt I will as the result says it all. The writings been on the wall for weeks if not months. At this point Rohan’s like a boxer who's taking a sustained beating. He won't quit, but that doesn't make it right. Somebody needs to step in for his own (and the clubs) good this weekend. At least that way the Leigh game can be the beginning of something new.
