Heard a comment on Radio Leeds this morning that the Catholic Church in Leeds is calling for a "thorough investigation into the child abuse allegations against Jimmy Savile" particularly in light of the fact that he was given a Catholic cathedral funeral service and received a Papal Kinghthood.

Now THAT, is what I call the definition of irony.

The brass neck of some is ridiculous.

The comment from the church representative was that the papal knighthood wasn't necessarily because they thought that he was a virtuous person, just that he'd done good deeds, they gave him it for the good deeds.

So I suppose thats alright then.

This is what lead me to post regarding the besmirching of St Jimmy's good name. Calling it character assassination, then the general tone regarding the women in the documentary was what lead to be think some posters were defending both Savile's name whilst being critical of those who feared to come forward until after he had died. Apologies if I have somehow misunderstood your statement.

Catholics have no room to talk about anyone. My irony-meter just broke reading that!

Interesting comments from the copper leading the investigation. He doesn't seem to be asking 'if' but 'how many'.

As for Jimmy Saville. It's just a crying shame the b*stard got away with it scot free. Never liked the bugger in the first place. Met him twice, and on both occasions found him to be an absolute tw*t of the highest order. Can't say I'm surprised by the allegations it was clear for all to see that he was slime ball.

Last week it was reported on Look North that a female optician had been sent to Saville's home to to provide glasses for his mother. According to the optician she was invited into the living room by Saville, where he preceded to drop his pant's and say "How's about this then". How Harry Gration kept a straight face during that report I'll never know.

IF he was still alive now,would he still be walking round Roundhay park acting like a benevolant celebrity and going in those restaurants on street lane posing for pics?would that TV show been produced and put out if he was still alive?

I have just heard from an ex patient from Stoke Mandeville hospital,and she said one of the nurses told her "jimmy savile is coming round today,so if I was you I say you dont feel well and want to stay in bed.Then you will be safe from being one of the chosen ones who tour roundwith him then go in a little room with him alone"For Christ sake why didnt they report him then ?

Seems VERY Odd all these people didn't speak up.

They should all be chemically castigated if you ask me.

Because the slippery little fekker was giving them £1000's every year and you don't bite the hand that feeds you - even if it is up the skirt of a 14 year old girl.
