| Quote: christopher "Total mixed bag.
We scored some lovely trys, but there were some poor defensive efforts and a couple of brainfarts - Sezer not realising it was the last then Wire scored infuriated me at the time, but then he made a great break for one of the trys, and his kick to fusitua was a peach.
We just needed to win today and to be fair rhe lads did look up for it were just lacking a decent spine at the moment, Hooley looked ok and is taking his chance.
Cameron Smith was the best player on the pitch by far.'"
Sezer would have been my MOM. He might have made a couple of mistakes but he's having to make all the decision making for the side, and today he got most of it right. Terrific effort to stay in the game against a full strength Wire side. Their spine (on paper) looked far, far better than ours, but somehow we hung in and got the win. Think a couple of our young lads have hit the wall - O’Connor looks jaded, and Johnson (though he was hobbling for most of the game) is no half. Fusitua and McDonald both did a great job bringing it out of back field and also really pleased to see Newman play for longer than expected and do well. Just glad to get the win.

That wire side on paper was far stronger than ours, there is something seriously wrong at Warrington, think theyve lost 10 of their last 11.
OConner does seem to have dropped off a bit but to be fair to him he’s still learning and only young.
Think we’ll see Sinfield in next week, Johnson didn’t look 100%.

19722.gif Woody: Can I pour you a draft, Mr. Peterson?
Norm: A little early, isn't it Woody?
Woody: For a beer?
Norm: No, for stupid questions.:19722.gif |

| I thought Cameron Smiths second stint was his best when he came on for johnson. He looks slow and a bit cumbersome when he carries the ball but often finds a way to break the line or at least make ground. Good that Newman looked to come through OK and probably played longer than planned. Bentley gets criticism sometimes but his work rate is outstanding, especially considering the minutes he does.
As others mentioned johnson didn't have the best game. He struggled in defence and while playing out of position, I'm not sure he is destined to be a regular at 9 either. He hasn't been given a long run in the position, but in the times he has played there he hasn't really done much of note.

| It`s a shame for O`Connor as up until probably these last 4 games he`s been ok, nothing brilliant but ok.
I think it`s no wonder he`s hit a brick wall the amount of minutes he`s been asked to play due to us having no other option.
I also bow to the expertise of others on here but I don`t see a good hooker in Johnson just yet.

Johnson is basically 2 years behind where he should be due to giving the game away a few years back, he’ll come good IMO

O'Connor will definitely come again. He just looks knackered and bang out of form at the moment. He's played a lot of minutes in a very high pressure position this season. Johnson was playing on one leg from very early in the game. In fairness he worked really had to contain Williams and Dufty down their left, but I agree that Sinfield should get his shot.

| Good result we 2 points off 5th and the same off 10th and that's a fair reflection of where we are as a club.
The first is the best we can be and the second the worst.
Agree a good win today and definitely plenty of commitment. I also thought Sezer put a good shift in today.

Johnson took a knock in the warm up, not sure he should have played even. The Warrington boys certainly saw him hobbling and gave him some traffic to deal with.
I would have gone with Sezer as MOM as well, also credit to Martin he can kick goals when we need them .
Scratchy afternoon but worth the drive from the Cotswolds.

| Throughly enjoyed the afternoon ,perfect weather and Sunday afternoon game much preferable to Friday night games. Good crowd of fifteen thousand. At this stage of the season a much needed two points. For large parts of the game we were second best, first half the wire pack made easy yards. Duffy ran the ball out from the back with pace so we were under the pump. Credit to the team they hung in and ground out the win. Cameron Smith deserved man of the match, if I wire a wire fan I would think it was a game thrown away especially due to poor goal kicking .

Agree re Sunday games. The club need to get in front of a different, younger audience where they can. Can't see many of the fans who have become bitter and disenfranchised returning when so many Rhinos games are on TV. Afternoon games pull in the families and the kids who are just discovering a love of the game, without the expectations of those who were attracted over the "golden" period.

I can understand the need for Friday night games obviously for sky broadcasting who ultimately are the paymasters. However I am certain midsummer Sunday afternoon games must be financially attractive for the club. A bonus last Sunday was the reserve game I watched some of it a nice end to the day. As you quite rightly comment Sunday afternoon is brilliant for kids and young families. Obviously the next generation of supporters. I note that a new 3 year deal with sky has just been signed, unfortunately less money than previous years. Mixed thoughts on the reduced fee, however as the economy worsens it might not be a bad outcome.

| My personal preference is Friday nights and I believe it’s better for corporate but can totally see the need for events like we had on Sunday. A mix is probably the best way to go with targeted days like Sunday.
I think the whole league needs to spread the games out a bit there should be a game on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week.

| Personally hate Sunday games. I get why some families like them but when you have to work it's a right pain in the ass. Also know a lot of families like Friday nights as it gets the game done and leaves the weekend free to spend on days out etc.
Not sure how Warrington managed to loose the game. Looked certain the last kick would be taken. Scrappy 2 points overall. Would love to see us play with some structure rather than all players making it up as they go along. Thought Newman was good on his return. Interesting to see him on the left. If he can remain fit next year it'll be like a new signing
