| I get that, but while some issues such as linespeed can be fixed by a different approach, lack of size and power is so fundamental you cannot fix it with just telling players to run harder. Someone like Sangare or Holroyd may be a much better player under a different coach, but no amount of coaching will let Donaldson, Goudemand, Bentley or McDonnell to break tackles or make a lot of yards post contact.

| I think everyone agrees on what the pack needs. It's just going to be a case of who is available and can/ are we willing to pay for it.
A backrow of Bentley /Gannon / Mcdonnell/ Ruan / looks less of an issue if we can add some real power to the front row and fix the defence issues/ RS game plan

| Wasn’t there talk a couple of months back about that prop Josh papalii ffrom the raiders being close to completion or does that now depend on if new coach wants him ?

Last I read in the Aussie media was that he was doing another year at Canberra in 2025 and then retiring

| You've got to be careful with those power props. A peak Papali'i would tear up SL. But once the power drops even a bit they can quickly become passengers. Tapau tipped over the edge like that a few years ago, about the time some fans were saying we should sign him.
If we get a coach who really knows the NRL, we might be better off with what seem like fringe players.

| Yep hard truth is we can't afford genuinely good NRL props in good form - although said it before but Mitch Garbutt was a really good signing at the time. I thought he was up there with the best props in the whole competition for a couple of years.

I think he's well passed his best if I'm honest but could still be very useful over here.. depends on his attitude - he may be able to do a good 3 seasons here if he's up for it.

He had some very good games for us and some he looked uninterested.I seem to remember rumours of being a poor trainer and disruptive in the dressing room.

| Yes I think he had an interesting character off the field!
It is very very hard to find and retain high quality imports these days (although again Saints and Wigan seem to have managed this way better than Leeds).
We need to give players like Holroyd time and resources, because if he can fulfil more of his early promise he's a really valuable asset. I still think there is a player in him but he does need the right coach I think to get stuck into him.

| I really rated Holroyd when he burst on to the scene and he did pretty well in the England Academy.
He seemed to go off the boil after his sending off whilst playing for Bradford.
Maybe someone told him he needs to curb his aggression and its affected his game.

| Brian Mac singles Garbutt out in the film 'As Good As It Gets'. In fact, the film is supposedly named after a comment of Brian's to Mitch - something along the lines of 'this is as good as it will ever get for you, Mitch Garbutt' while putting him through the ringer in training.

It's by no means impossible though. Look at Amone, Mago, and Satae. None of of them had really broken through over there, but they've been great in SL. Simply put, we need to try harder and do better when it comes to recruitment.

He was also back on the boil enough in his first full season to get an England cap
Lets see how he goes under a new coach

| Will be harder with is being abit of a show the last few years with regards to silverware and league position etc.
I know it was a different time during the golden gen but ad Sinny said, players down bigger deals elsewhere to win and play at Leeds.
We no longer have that ,so players will cost more
